No such thing as plug and play
When Pink Telecom was looking at overhauling its CRM infrastructure, Administration Director, Ian McNamara, reviewed a range of CRM products and invited avrion to discuss Pink Telecom’s specific requirements. Ian realised that for the CRM infrastructure to work for Pink Telecom, he needed to look beyond functionality and consider whether the implementation would fit with Pink Telecom’s business requirements as not all businesses are the same. It was the strength of avrion’s consultancy that made Pink Telecom ultimately chose its recommendation.
Consolidate to accumulate
As a leading telecoms reseller, Pink Telecom deals with a large number of sales calls, leads and inbound customer services enquiries. Like many technology businesses success depends largely on its sales performance, so having a centralised sales tool for its teams to populate efficiently is integral to business success. The key issues facing Pink Telecom were how to better monitor sales and pipeline performance and how it would integrate its e-shot and market-base data systems. There was also the question of combining its existing sales and marketing databases, including Excel Spreadsheets, into a coherent and malleable database.
With the advance in CRM systems it has become easier to merge all sales activity from opportunity logging to e-mail marketing campaigns in one system. Pink Telecom approached avrion to look at how it could take advantage of a consolidated CRM system. Following avrion’s advice they worked together to implement the CRM solution as a training database so that its sales team could get to grips with the new functionality and make any recommendations for fine-tuning the set up before it went live. Reports were extracted and analysed to ensure that they gave meaningful insights for Senior Management to fine tune the sales and marketing operations. Once all the testing had been completed, the system was rolled out to staff in September 2004.
Administration Director Ian McNamara has seen many improvements since the system went live. “The benefits of having visibility across all its sales teams helps keep track of performance and has paid dividends to our business’s bottom line” he said. “The centralised system also means that IT administration is now easier and more efficient.
