He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a qualified cost and works accountant. He obtained a diploma in information system audit from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Once a year the District Governor makes an official visit to each club in the District.The purpose of the visit is to: n allow the District Governor to com- municate with the club members; n be a useful counsellor to further the Object of Rotary among the clubs in the district and to assist clubs that may need some guidance; Pinaki joined Calcutta Port Trust as an accounts officer. Later he joined United Bank of India as faculty member of Unit- ed Bank of India Staff Training College. In 1987, he resigned from the Bank and became the managing partner of S P Dat- ta & Associates, a chartered accountants’ firm conducting audit of different nation- alised banks and public sector units. Pinaki joined the Rotary movement in 1986. He is a member of Rotary Club of Tollygunge and led the club as President in 1997. He has served the District in different capacities. He was District Treasurer in 2005-06 and District Secretary in 2008-09. He is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He is married to Nilima and the couple has a son Amartya, a practicing advo- cate in the High Court of Calcutta and a daughter Pallavi who has completed an MBBS degree. His daughter-in-law Sudeshna is pursuing an MBA in hotel management. Pinaki is a member of the Calcutta Club, Calcutta Rowing Club, Interna- tional Club, Life Saving Society, and the Cricket Association of Bengal. Pinaki likes listening to music. Today we are contributing 10 Cycle Rickshaw Vans to our RCCs and hand over the cheque to District Governor n motivate Rotarians to participate in service activities to strengthen the programmes of Rotary; n bring attention to important Rotary issues as they pertain to both the RI and district levels; n recognize the contrib- utions of Rotarians in the club.

Rotary Club of Central CalcuttaRotary Club of Central Calcutta (RCCC) of Rotary International Dis-trict 3291, was chartered in August 1984. The club has sponsored two In-teract clubs, one Rotaract Club and six Rotary Community Corps (RCC) situated in Hooghly & South 24 Par-ganas. The Club is proud to have a full cricket team through Interna-tional Fellowship of Cricket (loving) Rotarians and a very active & sup-portive Inner Wheel Club.

During the past 29 years, the club has initiated several rural village de-velopment activities, towards Swan-irbharta (Self Reliance) through the RCCs. Several villages have been ful-ly sanitized and have also been pro-vided with safe drinking water. Vo-cational Training Centers have been set up towards self employment. The club every year distributes blankets, mosquito nets, agricultural tools & equipment and thousand of fruit tree saplings, Which improve the en-vironment , provide nutritious food and more importantly are a source of income, Specially for the woman folk. Primary schools and education & training in modern methods of agriculture, pisciculture, poultry & animal husbandry is a regular fea-ture. The club promotes Rotary’s Blindness Prevention projects by providing Light to hundreds every year through IOL

cataract surgeries. The club through its RCC-Human Development Cen-tre, has sponsored an eye hospital at Jaynagar and is setting up another at Kakweep – deep in the Sundarban area, South 24 Parganas.

RCCC is closely associated with Shree Jain Hospital, Howrah and several projects, including IOL

Cataract surgeries, providing ar-tificial limbs, providing medical equipment including six dialysis machines, have been done with the hospital. The pride project of the club is Rotary Siksha Kendra, a school in village Bishnupur, Dist South 24 Parganas. The school has over 450 rural based children. It has own two storied building with ten fully fur-nished rooms.

All the activites of the club have been possible because of the interna-tionality of Rotary, the magic of the Rotary Foundation-Grant Programs and generous members and patron. The club has forged wonderful and lasting relationships with friendly Rotarians & Clubs in Canada- RID 7010, 7070 & 5360, USA – RID 5790, 6440, 6380, 7410,7470 & 7890, UK – RID 1070, 1090, 1110, 1120 & 1250, Australia RID 9640 and New Zeland RID 9940.

The club is currently doing 4 Global Grant projets.
