  • Combined TeamTeam Descript ion: Balancer

General Descript ionAs indicated on the Balanced Team graph, the scores for the combined team profile fall in the Mid-Rangesection of the graph. A Mid-Range score normally indicates that the team members have a balanced mixture oftraits from each end of the continuum for that factor. The Balanced team is the most flexible of all the team profilesand usually includes several team members who can fulfill most roles to which that team may be called upon tofill.

Ideal EnvironmentTeams with this profile function effectively with opportunities for a broad range of functions in a flexibleenvironment.

Typical Areas Of StrengthDepending on the individual profiles combined in this team's Balanced profile, the range of strengths may covermany if not all of the strengths needed in an organization. This is what makes a Balancer Team so desirable, depending on what task needs to be accomplished.

Typical Areas Of StruggleDepending on the individual profiles combined in this team's Balanced profile, the range of struggles may covermany if not all of the struggles found among the profiles.

Preferred Activit iesTo maximize the talents of this team, assign individuals with Balanced profiles to variable roles needing the mostflexibiltity. Assign individuals with other profiles to roles best suited for their specific profiles.

Contribut ions To The Organizat ionThe Balanced team can contribute a high level of flexibiltiy especially important for organizations in transition orhighly variable markets.

Leadership StyleBalancers within the team are comfortable as leaders or followers, depending on the circumstances, and arewilling to assume responsibility when leadership is required. They are excellent for organizations with a high levelof mobility and can assume leadership when others on the team are absent.

Task Or People Orientat ionBalanced teams naturally operate with a balance between commitment to people and tasks, which can makethem very effective in most environments.

Stress FactorsThe Balanced team is very flexible but may experience stress when the environment is extremely chaotic, unpredictable, or includes conflict, unexpected changes, a lack of appreciation, or extreme rudeness.

Financial ManagementBalanced members of this type of team can function well in control of the finances, but need concentrated time tokeep up-to-date. Oversight of finances may be part of the team's responsibilities with another team responsiblefor the detailed accounting.

  • Budget And Financial IssuesBalanced teams may tend to be very conservative in handling money, but they also may include individuals onthe team who agree to unwise financial transactions without appropriate questioning or in order to avoid conflict.Without an individual on the team who is excellent with budgets and finances, it is best to assign these duties toanother team.

Suggestions For ManagersThe Balance Team has a balanced mixture of traits, combined from the members of the team. The team may becomposed of members who are primarily Balanced, but may also contain a full range of all of the profiles. Themanager is advised to study the Balanced Team individual profiles as well as the team report providing thecomposite graphs and spread of all the team members. If most are the same, they will as a team operate in theflexible, multi-functional mode of the Balanced individual. If the members include people with most of the sixteenmain profiles, the team can handle a broad array of functions with specific assignments given to the mostappropriate team members based on their individual profiles. This information will be valuable for assigning anddistributing the work assigned to the manager of a Balanced team and maximizing the effectiveness of the teamand contributing to the success of the organization.
