Village Green is a festival that is held in Southend yearly; its aim is to support and promote artists.

It was first recognised by Metal in 2007 that there was a lack of support in Sou-thend’s creative community. Whether it be in art, photography, music, poetry – the list is endless – there needed to be a way to create awareness for these fantastic talents.

Metal had then decided a festival would be the answer to these problems. By creat-ing Village Green, Metal were able to showcase local artists work: allow musicians the opportunity to perform to an audience the music that they had once been brood-ing over, to allow dancers to perform and teach adults and children how to dance and for artists to display the work that they had once been pouring their heart into.

Applications to heir a stall for the day are open, however the deadline is April 15th so you need to apply quickly as spaces are limited! This year Vil-lage Green is being held on July 9th and is open from 11AM – 10 PM.

Village Green is clearly a big hit in the community, since in 2014 around 22,000 people came along to listen to the music and to take part in the activities. With plenty of things to see and activities to do whether you’re with your friends or family, this is an event not to be missed!

Village Green is being held on July 9th in Chalkwell Park, Southend-on-Sea.

It will start at 11AM and will end at 10PM.

Tickets are being sold online .People under the age of 10 are able to attend this event for free, people from the ages of 11-17 can buy tickets for £5.00 and adults 18+ are £10 per ticket. Group tickets are also available, see online for details.
