The workshop runs from 10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm. It is suitable for children over the age of five. INFORMATION: Booking essential on 0844 248 8181 or e-mail handson@woodgreen. org.uk DARBY AND JOAN: The May meeting, held in The Parish Hall, The Walks, was opened by team leader Anne Wallis with the usual business and names being taken for an outing to Althorp House in Northamptonshire, the family home of the late Princess of Wales where she is buried in the grounds. The trip is on July 10. The entertainment was provided by a visit from the Warboys Warblers. The musical group’s session ended with a sing-a- long of all the old and well- loved favourites. INFORMATION: The next meeting is on Wednesday, June 5, in The Parish Hall at 2.30pm. New members are always welcome. For more information about the club and its activities, call Anne on 01480 458935. HOLYWELL-CUM- NEEDINGWORTH WINE SOCIETY: Fifteen members met on May 17 at the home of Sue and Arthur Chappell for a blind tasting of commercial and home-made wines. Tasters were invited to decide which were home-made or commercial and suggest the fruit or type of grape, country of origin and year of production. An Italian wine costing nearly £12 did not find favour. A wine made from rice, which was provided by the host, completely fooled everyone. Guests were also asked to contribute a cheese. This made for a very interesting buffet. THE LEYS: When presented with a hammer, a wooden board, a piece of white cloth and a selection of flowers at the May meeting, members didn’t know what to expect. Flower pounding is what they were about to try. After some very noisy hammering of flowers and a lot of laughter, the results were surprisingly good. The colourful image of the flowers had been transferred onto the cloth and not beaten to a pulp as expected. Two artistic members, who had guided the group to such an enjoyable evening, showed what could be achieved with practice. GOLD TOOTH: A Huntingdonshire dentist has been recognised by the British Dental Association (BDA) for a decade of high standards. Huntingdon House Dental Practice, in Huntingdon Street, St Neots, was awarded gold membership to the BDA’s Good Practice Scheme for maintaining membership for 10 years. The achievement was recognised at the British Dental Conference and Exhibition last month where 200 dental practices celebrated reaching the gold standard. Barry McGonigle, president of the BDA, said: “A practice’s membership of the BDA’s Gold Practice Scheme demonstrates its commitment to high standards and recognises the efforts of its whole team to work together to achieve excellence and deliver high- quality, patient-centred care.” Principal dentist at Huntingdon House, Dr Georgina O’Callaghan, said she was proud that the practice had been able to maintain these standards for so long. She said: “Huntingdon House has been recognised by the BDA since 2002 as committed to good practice and has been a member of its Good Practice Scheme. This means that the practice meets nationally recognised standards to provide the best possible care for its patients.” Pictured: The Huntingdon House Dental Practice team with principal dentist Dr Georgina O’Callaghan at the front.
