Captions (also called the cutline, underline, or legend) provide descriptive text for photo images. Captions should be used with all photos and are placed to the left under the photo.
Cropping removes unwanted segments located around the photograph’s edges. Always crop to show‐case your subjects from a closer perspective and to decrease clutter. Remember, photos rarely occupy more than a quarter page and appear in a smaller size once fitted into the overall page layout, and when photocopied or offset printed lose detail in highlights and shadows. Picture layouts look best when photos have equal quality, and a good image depends on the original photographʹs quality, so choose wisely.
