with in excess of $3.4 billion in export earnings in the year ended June 2009.

thousands of seasonal workers to:
Harvest fruit, vegetables and wine grapes•
Pack and sort fruit and vegetables•
Prune fruit trees and grape vines•
Maintain crops; summer pruning, planting vegetables, thinning fruit•
The peak months for seasonal work are November to June (see table
below) though there is work available at other times of year. For up-to-date
information about job availability, check the picknz.co.nz website or phone
the Regional Coordinator on 0800 PICKNZ (0800 742 569) before travelling to
a region for work.
There is work outdoors in orchards, vineyards and vegetable fields or indoors
in packhouses, grading sheds and coolstores.
No previous experience is needed, and you will get on-the-job training.
There is a range of jobs for young, old, skilled and un-skilled people. You will
need to be fit, enthusiastic and reliable. Horticulture can offer something for
almost anybody.
