Picasso • Childhood and adolescence

• Picasso Ruiz was born in October, 25 – 1881 in Malaga-Spain;

• He was painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright;

• He is one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century;

• He is known for co-founding the Cubist movement.

• It is a period between 1901-1904;

• Picasso has painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors;

• Picasso sank into a severe depression in 1901 due suicide of his friend Carlos Casagemas and his difficult financial situation.

• It is characterised by a more cheery style with orange and pink colours. This period lasted from 1904 to 1906;

• Picasso was happy in his relationship with Fernande Olivier whom he had met in 1904. She was a bohemian artist who became Picasso´s mistress;

• Picasso became a favourite of American art collectors Leo and Gertrude Stein in 1905.

• It is a style of painting Picasso developed with Georges Braque using monochrome brownish and neutral colours;

• Picasso took apart objects and "analyzed" them in terms of their shapes;

• After cubism period Picasso acquired some fame and fortune and began to frequent new social circles.
