PHYSICS OCR A LEVEL PHYSICS Code: OCR A Level Physics Taught hours per week: 6 hours Course Leader: Mrs L Hoad Course Content Module 1 Development of practical skills in physics Module 2 Foundations of physics; physical quanities and units, making measurements and analysing data, nature of quantities Module 3 Forces and motion; motion, forces in action, work, energy and power, materials, momentum Module 4 Electrons, waves and photons; charge and current, energy, power and resistance , electrical circuits, waves, quantum physics Module 5 Newtonian world and astrophysics; thermal physics, circular motion, oscillations, gravitational fields, astrophysics and cosmology Module 6 Particles and medical physics; capacitors, electric field, electromagnetism, nuclear and particle physics, medical imaging Course Features Module 1 offers the opportunity to develop practical skills that will be assessed later throughout the course. A-level Physics offers the opportunity to understand how concepts oh physics affect our day to day lives beyond that which we think of, including everything from the scale of the universe to the concepts oh physics in everyday engineering around us. Progression and Skills A level Physics is essential to proceed onto higher education for a range of physical engineering qualifications, as well as research based routes. Some courses that students can go on to include; engineering, computer science and medicine such as radiography.
