Completion of all general education courserequirements (Phase I) with a grade of "C" orbetter:� BIO 210 – Anatomy and Physiology I� ENG 101 – English Composition I� PSY 201 – General Psychology� MAT 102 – Intermediate Algebra� AHS 104 – Medical Vocabulary/Anatomy� BIO 211 – Anatomy and Physiology II� PSY 203 – Human Growth and Development� CPT 170 – Microcomputer Application

SPC 205 - Public Speaking� Humanities Elective

AND1 of the following:�• 60 or better in Reading and Math on the

TEAS V Test� • 480 or better in Math and Reading on the SAT� • 19 or better on the ACT� • Bachelor's Degree with minimum GPA of 2.75

-Minimal cumulative GPA of 2.5-Attend a Health Information Program (HIP)Session-Fill out application and return by April 1-Proof of 40 Observation Hours or work in a physical therapy setting is highly encouraged, but not required-Attend a scheduled interview session

What degree will I earn?OCtech will award an Associate in AppliedScience Degree with a Major in PhysicalTherapist Assistant.

Will I have to pass a licensing exam topractice as a PTA?Yes, after receiving your Associate Degree, youwill apply to the state in which you wish topractice for eligibility to sit for the NationalPhysical Therapy Exam. You must pass thisexam to practice as a PTA in the state youapplied. An exam fee is required.

How do I apply?You must attend a Health Information Program(HIP) Session either in person or online to receivean application packet. These packets will be madeavailable at the beginning of January each year.The deadline for application is April 1 or theThursday before if April 1 falls on a weekend. Ap-plications should be turned into Admissions be-tween the hours of 8:00 – 4:00 on Monday –Thursday. No late applications will be accepted.

Effective April 30, 2014, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College's PhysicalTherapist Assistant Program has been granted Candidate for Accreditationstatus by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education(1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314; phone: 703-706-3245;email: [email protected]). Candidate for Accreditation is a pre-ac-creditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation inPhysical Therapy Education that indicates that the program may matricu-late students in technical/professional courses and that the program is pro-gressing toward accreditation. Candidate for Accreditation is not anaccreditation status nor does it assure eventual accreditation.
