JeanLuc Bertrand, Close Up Artist and Magic Entertainer specialist in the staging of magic based events, has performed his work in many areas and many walks of life for more than fifteen years. Fascinated by magic from an early age, he began his career as a magician in New York, performing in up-scale restaurants for a few years before moving on to Singapore. During his travels, he perfected his artistic approach across various cultures and through numerous personal encounters. The idea of using magic as a communication tool came to him gradually.

And so he evolved his talent and developed his international reputation as a creator of innovative entertainment events, some never seen before. JeanLuc is regularly asked to perform at private parties, corporate events, on television shows and for global luxury brands.

First and foremost an artist, he also spent ten years performing in Parisian theatres with his show «MAGICIEN(S) TOUT EST ECRIT» (Everything is written), a magic-comedy directed by Arthur JUGNOT. With this stage experience, he learnt the importance of acting, lighting and stage design.

Always on the lookout for new challenges for his company CLOSE UP MAGIC Entertainment, JeanLuc divides his time between the stage and his production department, where he and his team also develop larger projects.

Productions & DirectingAs well as maintaining their leading position in the «world of communication through magic». Close Up Magic Productions develops several films each year, used for teaching the art of magic.

Through more than a dozen instructional DVDs for the professional market, JeanLuc Bertrand has directed and produced a series of videos that has helped thousands of magicians learn their trade or enhance their passion.

Globally launched and distributed around the world as a new form of interactive media, some of these DVDs have become best sellers in their category.

JeanLuc’s unique approach to magic behind the camera led him to become a consultant on several television shows and directed full programs for french magician Canal+’s Kamel or stage shows for Xavier Mortimer and the Bertran Lotth’s Futuroscope theme park.
