This class will give the student an introductory knowledge of photography. The student
will learn how to operate a camera, develop film, and make photographic prints. We
will also discuss the history of the medium and its place in contemporary culture.
Students will complete assignments designed to develop both their technical skills and
aesthetic awareness. Students will be required to keep a journal to document ideas.
Students will be required to compile a technical notebook in the form of a portfoliobook containing photographs from the technical assignments and corresponding notes
as well as a final portfolio of 12 16 mounted prints.
