hours of community service,
and spent 752 nights
camping.
Five members of this class
were elected into the Or-
der of the Arrow. Two are
Ordeal members, one is a
Brotherhood member, and
two are Vigil members.
The Vigil honor is be-
stowed, not earned, and
Troop 259 has only had
four youth to receive this
high honor. This group has
also served in the order at
all levels with troop, chap-
ter, lodge and section posi-
tions.
This class also brought with
them a dedicated group of
parents and family mem-
bers, who also provided a
wide range of adult lead-
ership to the troop. We
wish to thank all the scout-
masters, committee mem-
bers, volunteers, and par-
ents for all their dedication
and hard work to provide
our scouts an environment
to learn life lessons, grow
in their leadership skills,
and to grow into young
men with a sense of duty
and citizenship.
As we say farewell to this
group, we would like to
thank them for their lead-
Once again the June Court of
Honor combines celebration
and sadness. As the graduat-
ing class joins us in a group
for the final time, we will take
a moment to reflect back on
their achievements in scouting.
First, we wish to thank them
for their service to the troop
and to wish them luck in all
future endeavors. Even
though they have now
reached the end of their
years as a Boy Scout, we are
sure that their lives ahead will
provide many more chances
to succeed, fail, and learn, as
they move forward. There is
no doubt that the promise
they have shown as youths will
manifest itself into their devel-
opment as adults, who will
continue to contribute, and
become good citizens.
This year’s group of 6 scouts
first came to us in the winter
of 2011, crossing over from
Cub Scout Pack 259. Through
the years, ten scouts have
been part of this class and
of that group, six of them
are still with us today. All
six have earned the rank of
Eagle and another who
moved out of state also
earned his Eagle (Derek
Hallett). Over the years we
have gained and lost scouts,
but this final group of six
leave us with an impressive
array of accomplishments.
They have also provided the
backbone of the troop’s
leadership over the past
several years.
The members of this class
served in troop leadership
positions 39 times during
their scouting careers. Their
service encompassed every
leadership position in scout-
ing, from all troop level po-
sitions through all patrol lev-
el positions. Their leader-
ship provided us with 1 Sen-
ior Patrol Leader, 4 Assistant
Senior Patrol Leaders, 8
Patrol Leaders and 5 Assis-
tant Patrol Leaders, 1 In-
structor, 1 Quartermaster, 2
Historians, 1 Scribe, 1 Bu-
gler, 1 OA Representative,
1 Den Chief, 3 Troop
Guides, and 1 Webmaster.
As a group they earned 349
merit badges, provided 466

While the Class of 2018
will be missed, their leg-
acies will remain with us,
adding to the legacies
of the many outstanding
classes that graduated
before them. As always,
the scouts that remain
behind with Troop 259
will continue to build

badges during his scouting
career. He was elected into
the Order of Arrow in
2013.
Andrew spent 77 nights
camping and 50 in service
hours. His Eagle project
benefited the Church of St.
Therese in Chesapeake, Vir-
ginia. The project involved
removing old carpet, pre-
paring and painting walls,
installing a new Laminate
Wood floor and new base-
boards for a large multi-
purpose room. The entire
project was completed in
four consecutive days. 23
scouts and 6 adults assisted
with the project providing
over 200 man hours of ser-

turned out great and the
church was very pleased
