KarnatakaChiefMinisterBSYediyurappaFridaycalledonPrime Minister NarendraModi here and requestedhim to facilitate early imple-mentation of some pendingstate works including theMekedatudamproject.

Yediyurappa, who is vis-iting the national capitalamid speculations about aleadership change in thestate, sidestepped reporters'questions on the issue. “Idon't know.Youhave to tell,”he told the reporters with asmile. “I requested thePMtofacilitateforearly implemen-tation of some state works.Hehas agreed for all.” Askedif theMekedatu damprojectacross the Cauvery river wasalso discussed, he said “allissues” cameup.

Zomato's IPO had themarketdivided, with some investorsdeciding to give it amiss, giv-enits lackofprofitabilitytrackrecord. Brokerages recom-mended clients with a high-risk appetite to subscribe tothe IPO. Zomato’s losseswidened between FY18 andFY20from~107croreto~2,386crore.However, thecashburnhashelpedthecompanygrowits top line five times from~466 crore to ~2,605 crore.

“Thecompanyhascertainpositives like asset-light scal-ablebusinessmodel, expand-edtargetmarketpost thepan-demic, first-mover advantagein fooddeliverybusiness. Butits operations are generating

heavy losses, albeit someimprovements in FY21,”ChoiceBroking said inanote.

Thepriceband for the IPOwas~72-76pershare.Zomato'sIPOcomprised~9,000croreoffreshfundraiseand~375croresecondary share sale by InfoEdge. At the top-end of theprice band, the company willbe valued at nearly ~60,000crore. The company plans toutilise the net proceeds fromthe IPO towards fundingorganicand inorganicgrowthinitiatives. After the IPO,Zomato will have cash of~15,000 crore on its balancesheet, which the companysayswillgiveita longrunawaytopursue growth.

This may give a breather tosometelcos inlighteningtheirdebtburdenthroughthecom-ing quarters. A call may alsobe taken on deferring spec-trum-relatedinstallmentsthattelcos pay.

Another official close tothe development said theeffort would be to firm upmeasures so that the telecomsector does not go down anyfurther.Whilenospecificstepis being consid-ered for thecash-strappedVoda Idea, hesaid delibera-tionswereonforthe entire tele-com sector toprevent it frombecoming aduopoly . ‘’Themeasureswouldbeaimedatben-efitingallmobileoperators andnot justone,’’ theofficial said.

“Interestofconsumershasto be kept in mind when wefirm up any kind of relief forthe industry. The decisionshould not hurt the end con-sumer,” a third official said.On thepaymentofAGRdues,the DoT is likely to hold talks

with the law ministry as wellas the finance ministry.Vodafone Idea lenders hadearlier approached thefinanceministrytostepinandavert a crisis.

Shareholders may note that both the unclaimed dividend and the shares transferred to IEPF Authority including all benefits accruing on such shares, if any, can be claimed back from IEPF Authority after following the procedure prescribed under the Rules.
