From the Deputy Principals
Once again, this has been a busy year of teaching and learning here at EJ. Report Cards were emailed home earlier this week. Teachers have worked hard to give an accurate description of every student’s learning achievements this year. Sharing your child’s report card with them and capitalising on the opportunities to reflect on the learning journey is a crucial factor in
establishing expectation and front ending success for their next year of schooling. It is important that you share this document with your child and discuss the positives and where to from here.
EJ Lightning Chess Tournament Our third Eagle Junction Chess Tournament was held earlier this week. Over fifty students competed in the lightning tournament. The strategic thinking of the competitors was on display as they competed against each other, while keeping an eye on the clock! The students enjoyed the competition and participated enthusiastically. Thank you to Gardner Chess for organising the competition.
End of Year Activities Below is a summary of the activities to take place over the final two days of this term.
Happy Holidays On behalf of the Eagle Junction State School staff, I would like to wish you all a happy and safe holiday. Enjoy your time with your children and we look forward to seeing you in 2020.

To our departing families, we would like to thank you for letting us be part of your child’s learning journey and sincere well wishes for the future. A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing our smiling faces back in their “Navy and Blue” in January 2020.

Save the Date – The EJ Sportsman’s Night 2020, Saturday 21st March
The EJ Sportsman’s night is back again in 2020 and will be another great event to raise money for a great
cause – to ensure all EJ kids get the same EJ experience. It is the major social event and fundraiser
for Term 1, so mark the date and get involved.
This years event was a great night, with our legendary MC ROB “CRASH”CRADDOCK being joined by local sporting royalty STEPHANIE RICE and the current
Australian opening batsmen JOE BURNS. Crash will be back again in 2020 and will be joined again by
sporting legends – watch this space!
In 2020 the school is celebrating a 125 years of EJ. What a great opportunity to get involved and support your school, whether you are a current, past or soon to be member of the EJ community. So a big call out
to the EJ Alumni to get involved.
Thank you to David Treloar and the team at Ray White Albion for returning again as our major
sponsors and great supporters of the night.

125th EJSS Anniversary Celebrations Next year EJSS will be turning 125 years old. To commemorate this significant event, there will be 2 major events planned in 2020. Please mark the following dates on your calendar:
May 30: 125th School Anniversary Event (Trivia Night)
June 21: 125th School Anniversary Open Day Early next year more details will be shared concerning the planned events. A dedicated website will be established to help promote the events and connect with past students. It will be an exciting time for our school community. As a gift to the school we will be restoring the Memorial Gates and creating an art piece as a permanent reminder of the 125th anniversary celebrations. If you are interested in joining the 125 Anniversary Committee, the next meeting will be held on 17 February at 6.00pm.
