Pharmacy Technician Instructor Clinical Training

Dates: July 18-20, 2016

This program is designed for pharmacy technician course instructors and other clinical professions. Upon completion of the training participants will be able to:

1. Discuss the changing role of the pharmacy technicians.2. Describe the role of pharmacy technicians in sterile and non-sterile compounding practices.3. Align course outcomes, instructional strategies, and assessments.4. Develop and utilize active learning strategies to encourage effective collaboration.5. Demonstrate effective small group facilitation skills to promote participant engagement.6. Define medical and pharmacy terminology and abbreviations in sterile and non-sterile compounding.7. Apply pharmacy math and aseptic technical principals to non-sterile and sterile compounding procedures.8. Demonstrate laboratory practices, procedures and preparatory techniques related to compounded dosage forms.9. Explain the non-sterile preparation procedures represented by commonly compounded dosage forms.10. Describe the standards of practice and professional ethics for pharmacy technicians. 11. Discuss the alignment of PTCB Curriculum Guidelines, pharmacy technician instruction, and the PTCE exam.

grade of at least 75%, and the submittal of an evaluation form, participants will receive 10.0 contact hours for didactic section (1.0 CEUs) and 6.0 contact hours for laboratory exercises (0.6 CEUs).
