PartnershipMANY pharmacies are boughtin partnership, costs are split, theworkload is shared and dierentskill sets can be combined tomaximise productivity andsuccess.

Nevertheless there canbe pitfalls and they can bedevastating.

A business partnership is like amarriage-you are in it for goodtimes and bad, the now and theunforeseen.

So, no matter how condentyou are in your partner youcannot aord not to have a legalPartnership Agreement.

It can be a simple documentthat works like a rule-book foryour pharmacy business.

It should lay down rules forwage increases, new partners,nancial evaluation, successionplanning, buy/sell requirements,distribution of prots, partner

duties and responsibilities.I have seen the upset caused

when one partner becomessick, dies, divorces or simplydoesnt live up to their side of thebargain!

Without a formal agreementthe fall-out can be catastrophicand even lead to the eventualsale of the pharmacy, let alonethe emotional cost.

So please, if you take awayone thing from my advice,

let it be that you draw up aformal partnership agreementBEFORE setting out on yourbusiness journey it will help toensure a long a fruitful workingrelationship.
