Compressed & Cryogenic Gases & Equipment Safety2017 Dates & Venues
Training Requirement Personnel using or coming into contact with both compressed & cryogenic gases require training in the safe use and management of the gases and equipment to comply with current Codes of Practice & Legislation and to meet the obligations of both employees & employers in respect of the H & S at Work Act 1974 & PUWER.Training Objective & Content Comprehensive training leading to the award of a Compressed & Cryogenic Gases Safety Passport Card demonstrating the learner has been provided with, and has understood, the safety requirements for the safe use of compressed & cryogenic gases and equipment.Classroom SessionInteractive training on topics including: (compressed 3.5 hours) Operator behaviours, gas properties & hazards, cylinder identification & data, associated equipment, flammable toxic & special gase, emergency procedures, PPE, cylinder storage & handling, legislation & Codes of Practice.(cryogenic 1.5 hours) User behaviour & perceptions, hazards caused by cryogen, asphyxiation, oxygen enrichment, pressure, carbon dioxide & dry ice, embrittlement, functions of pressurised vessels, dewars, ice plugs, cryogen in lifts, cryogenic spillage & emergency, procedures, PPE, First aid.Practical Session approximately (1 hour) All learners will be given the opportunity to practice under supervision before use checks, regulator fitting, manual handing of cylinders.Certification & CPD Accredited HoursSuccessful learners will receive a documented Certificate of Achievement with 4.5 or 6 CPD hours & the credit card style PGS Gas Safety Passport.This course is also available as a QCF Level 3 qualification.
