Can pets affect peoples’ outlook on life?

My Hypothesis
I think that animals can affect people in any type of way. Having pets can often provide people with helpful skills. They can teach responsibility and can teach people and kids care giving skills.

The Statistics(Dogs) About 77.5 million owned dogs in US 39% of US households own at least one dog. 67% own one dog 24% own two dogs 9% own three or more dogs Average: owners have 1.7 dogs 19% of dogs were adopted from a shelter. Average: owners spent $225 on vet bills/visits
annually. 75% owned dogs are spayed/neutered.
