PetroglyphsPetroglyphs are prehistroic rock carvings which were made by the ancient man. Petroplyphs are exceptionally valuable evidence of the remote past coming to us from the Neolithic Age. The age of Karelian Petroglyphs is estimated at 6 thousand years.

Native American pictographs have been found throughout the Americas. Pictographs represent the actual thing: a bird is a bird.

The Plains Indian petroglyphs were drawn in symbols. As most of the Native American languages were not written, these symbols seem to tell the story with important details and lessons. Symbols also appear in combined form to make compound meanings.
