Pesach Taboo By Ephrayim Naiman and Family

Description:

Get the children involved, either at the Seder or in the classroom, with this fun and interactive game. Based on the Taboo game, children have to try to get the audience to figure out a key Pesach word without using the “taboo” words to describe it. This is a wonderful way to review Pesach ideas and really excite and interest kids of all ages. Goals/objectives:

Students will review Pesach material in an exciting way and will express themselves in a creative fashion. Materials needed:

cardstock laminate

Instructions:

1. Print the word cards; flip the cards and put them back through the printer and print the taboo background on the other side of all cards.

2. Divide the players into two teams. 3. One person has to get the other team to figure out the word at the

top of the card without using any of the taboo words. One person on the opposing team checks to make sure that none of the taboo words are used.

4. If the team figures out the word, they get to keep the card. 5. After each round, the team has to say a short dvar Torah or thought

about one of the cards that they have won.

Variations: If there isn’t a printer available, cut out and paste the cards onto

cardstock. It’s more time consuming but it will still work. This is a wonderful game in that it can be used for all ages. A younger

child could be given a simple word/concept to explain (i.e. matzah) and an older child could work with a more difficult idea (i.e. Korban Chagigah).

Play this game at Shulchan Orech, or on Shabbos Hagadol or on Shabbos Chol Hamoed. It could get to be a little too much fun (and too disruptive) for Maggid.

There are blank Taboo cards as well so you can add in any Pesach word which you feel would be relevant.
