It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us for Perspectives in Melanoma XIII. This fall’s conference, October 8-10, 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland, promises to be an outstanding educational conference!

Perspectives in Melanoma XIII has become a premier forum for discussion on the latest advances in melanoma research and emerging therapies. With an interactive and exciting scientific agenda planned, this conference provides an overview of the most current and controversial topics in the field of melanoma.

With 12 years of exceptional educational content, this conference remains a forum to update your knowledge in the field, confirm your current practices and receive essential take-home information on exciting new screening and staging modalities, management approaches, emerging treatment options and clinical trial updates. Providing an overview of recent advances, Perspectives in Melanoma XIII is led by renowned thought leaders and current investigators in melanoma; this conference will expand several of the most promising new leads from the bench to the clinic.

Over 200 physicians, researchers, nurses other healthcare professionals attended Perspectives in Melanoma XI in 2007 in California and nearly 400 attended last year in The Netherlands. • Discuss important aspects of the biology, pathogenesis and epidemiology of melanoma

• Evaluate emerging technologies for biomarker identification and the potential impact of biomarkers on treatment and management of melanoma

• Integrate important advances in diagnostic and imaging methodologies into clinical practice

• Describe emerging concepts and progress in the role of surgery and staging of melanoma

• Explain the role of the immune system in melanoma pathogenesis and identify immunological targets for therapy

• Evaluate the therapeutic benefit from immunotherapeutic strategies such as anti–CTLA-4 monoclonal antibodies and Toll-like receptor agonists based on their effect on the signaling pathways involved in T-cell regulation and activation

• Analyze recent progress in melanoma vaccine development

• Discuss the molecular biology and therapeutic potential of targeting signal transduction pathways involved in the pathogenesis of melanoma, such as the MAPK and PI3K pathways, as well as mediators of angiogenesis

• Recommend appropriate strategies for therapeutic intervention in patients with metastatic melanoma

C a l l f o r a b s t r a c t sParticipants interested in presenting data should submit abstracts online at www.imedex.com by August 17, 2009. Abstracts are subject to acceptance by the Scientific Committee. Once accepted, abstracts will be published in the final course book and scheduled for oral or poster presentation.

Acceptance notifications and guidelines for poster presentation will be sent on September 7, 2009. Authors of accepted abstracts who have not registered will have until September 24, 2009 to do so at the rate of $299.00. After this date, abstracts without registered presenters will be disregarded.
