Note* (In this study teacher support materials were prepared in all the four subjects for classes I

to IV to develop MLL‟s among children of 50 schools in and around Mysore. Teachers were

trained to use the above materials through continuous in-service teacher training. Students

achievement levels were tested continuously for four years at the terminal examinations.)

Major Activities Performed in Pondicherry University as Head and Dean of School of

Education:

The following activities have been performed taking along all the faculty members of the School

of education as a team

Initiated and obtained recognition from the NCTE for the M.Ed. course.

Prepared the syllabus for PG diploma in teaching skills- an ad-on course, introduced as an

evening course for all the graduates to develop professional competencies in teaching at

higher education level.

Prepared and presented a profile of School of education to the Peer team committee from

NAAC and contributed to the University in obtaining „A‟ grade by NAAC.

Introduced as an annual feature training students in the use of SPSS package

Special lectures from experts from other Universities are organized to strengthen the course

work as well as to orient the students for UGC/NET examination; 3 to 5 candidates get

qualified for NET/JRF every year since 2009 as a result more than 12 JRF‟s have joined for

research between 2010 and 2012.

UGC assistance under SAP-DRS-I, was sanctioned to School of Education in 2011 for Five

years on the initiation and submission of the proposal for the following three thrust areas:

a. Content development for Teacher education;

b. Improvement of Technology layer in Evaluation Procedures in Teacher -

Education;

c. Improvement of Teaching Skills and Bench marking of Teacher Performances.
