The academic year 2014–15 began on a very positive note of getting accredited by
NAAC.
The Staff: The staff members are pillars of the college. It is their dedicated work, which
translates vision into reality. The Commerce and Management Department was happy
to include Mr.Shashikanth as a new member to their department. AHL was happy to
welcome Ms.Ashwini as the new Administrator, Ms.Shobha as PG Librarian and Ms.
Gouthami to their family and the total strength of staff stands at 30. We bid farewell to
Ms. Archana Faculty of Commerce and Management Department as she got placed in
BESCOM.
Teachers are the backbone of the society. Hence to improve the quality among
teachers the MLA Management and the College encourages its teaching staff to attend
various seminars, conference, workshops and present paper or participate in the same.

Our Students participated in intercollegiate management fest organized by MLACW,
Kristu Jayanthi College, M S Ramaiha College, SJR College and MLAFGCW and have
won prizes in few events.
Test & Examinations
The college conducted three rounds of test for first year students and one round
of test for second and final year students along with a preparatory examination in
the odd semester for all the UG students.
In the even semester the college conducted two rounds of test and one
preparatory examination for all the UG students.
One internal test for each semester and subject presentations were conducted in
Post Graduation Department.

Student Council Activities (Samskruthi):
Our institution set forth its journey as a toddler in 2006 and has since seen much
progress and achievement. Our first step towards the achievement of holistic
development is to encourage the students towards various literary, cultural and sports
events along with academics. We provide our students the platform to showcase their
cultural and sportive talents through various fests and intercollegiate events.

Hindi department celebrated Hindi Divas on 15.09.2014 at RR Auditorium.
Chief Guest was Dr. P.V. Padmaja, Principal. The show was conducted in
Hindi and the entire college participated in the celebration of Hindi Divas.

Department of English (Zodiac)
As part of the English club activity, Zodiac had invited one of the most
interactive and improvisational theatre groups in Bangalore, Yours Truly
Theatre to perform in AHL. The program was conducted on the 20th
September 2014 in the RR Auditorium. The students of all sections were
part of the audience and it was a thorough entertainment and educative.
The actors took ideas from the students and enacted them impromptu.
A workshop on “Creativity-creative thinking and problem solving” was
organized, as part of the syllabus, for students of II B.Com in association
with MLA FGCW in the RR Auditorium on 9th September, 2014. The
speaker was Dr. Shobha, Associate Professor, Department of Human
Development, VHD Central Institute of Home Science. Certain aspects of
creativity were explained through PPT which was followed by an
interactive session in which students were encouraged to bring out their
creativity. In addition to this, convergent and divergent thinking as tools for
problem solving were also mentioned. The wonderful activity based
workshop immensely benefitted the students.
Even semester had lot of competitions like: Detect a word, Creative
Writing, Word Building; Poetry Reading and Quiz in its store for students
to participate and win prizes at inter class level in the last week of
January, 2015.
Zodiac also celebrated friendship day by organizing informal competitions
for the students.

E-Cell:
No business is without an idea. E-CELL of our college aims at developing entrepreneurial skills and provides a platform for exhibiting their ideas.
1. On 21st June 2014, an orientation program was organized for fresh batch of BCOM
and BBM students to give them an overview about E-Cell activities organize at our
college. The students who were interested to be part of E-Cell activity were asked to
enroll their names with the concerned Teacher Co-ordinators.
2. E-Cell Teacher Co-ordinators Ms.Ashwini .V and Ms. Archana B.S participated in
NEN Faculty Leaders Meet and discussed about „Institutional Capacity Building‟
on 9th August 2014, at International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT),
Bangalore.
3. On September 11th 2014, E-Cell members had set-up food and accessory stalls
during our Inter Collegiate fest Sambhavami 2014.
4. On 15th September 2014, two of our Final year students Ms. Mamatha.V (III BCOM)
and Ms. Yeshaswini (III BBM) participated in Entrepreneurial Development
Workshop organized at St.Claret College by Geny Awaking India- an
Entrepreneurial Development team. The topics dealt were Philosophy of
Entrepreneural Success, Developing innovative Idea for a new business and Art of
marketing a product or a service.
5. On September 16th and 17th 2014, two of our Second year students Ms.
Sangeetha.K.E (II BBM) and Ms. Srilatha.S (II BCOM) participated in UGC
sponsored International Conference on „Entrepreneurship, Innovation and
Inclusiveness – A Strategic Paradigm‟ organized by Jyoti Nivas College
Autonomous, Bangalore.
6. On September 17th 2014, two of our Final B.COM students Ms. Roshni R.N and Ms.
SreeRaksha J.K participated in ED Quiz organized by Maharani Lakshmi Ammani
College for Women.
7. “Fifty Rupees Exercise” was conducted for the first year students by E Cell.

The content of each session was documented and was signed by the parent.
Ms.Thejaswini.K spoke to all the students and parents of second and final year B.Com
and BBM during their admission on one on one basis and discussed about the
attendance, conducts and also collected a feedback from them about the college.
Mentoring:
Mentoring was redesigned in the odd semester and implemented in the even semester
where mentors were allotted 25 students and were asked to meet their mentees
individually or in group as the case may be every Tuesdays and Fridays on a regular
basis till the end of the semester. During mentoring sessions various issues pertaining
to their academic performance, attendance, discipline etc were addressed by the
teacher mentors. Recording system of Mentee has been evolved to keep track of their
progress.
Alumni Meet:
The College had organized an alumni meet on 31st January 2015. Current students
conducted games for the alumni. Alumni teacher coordinator Ms.Ashwini.V discussed
on the formation of a committee with various designations to utilize the funds of alumni
association.
Katte (Informal discussion forum):
Katte is an interactive open discussion forum for students. It motivates & help students
to let go of their inhibitions and speak freely without any hesitation, thereby improve
their communication skills.
The forum has successfully completed 36 sessions in the last 7 years.
Two sessions were conducted in the odd and even semester for the undergraduate
students on the following topics:
“Mall culture in India”
“Fast food Vs. Home food”
“Are Celebrities Role Models or Misleading Idols”
“Women Empowerment Challenges”
Students actively participated in both the sessions as the topic was chosen by them.
One session was conducted for the post graduate students in the month of October on
the topic “Social networking boon or bane”
Post graduate department:
The PG forum commenced its activities with inauguration of M.Com classes on 20th
August 2014. PG students participated in an intercollegiate fest conducted by Mount
Carmel College on 25th & 26th Sep 2014. 15 students participated in various events
such as HR, Marketing, Finance, EDP and Business Quiz. Mamatha.S and Ashwini K
won second place in EDP and Waheeda Sultana & Aishwarya C won the first place in
HR event. B- talk on “Competency Mapping & Role Behavior” was organized on 18th
Oct 2014 at 11.30 am in the A V Lab. The resource person for the event was
Mr.Avinash.V.Rao, Head HR – Operations and Talent Management, AIR ASIA.
Best Manager Week was conducted from 14th Oct to 21st Oct 2014. 13 students
participated in this event. The following events were conducted for the preliminary
rounds.

Based on the preliminary rounds four finalists were selected for the final stress

Ms Soumya. R of I M.Com was adjudged as the Best Manager 2014-15.
A discussion on „Foreign Direct Investment‟ was organized on 28th Oct 2014 by the
Dept. of MBA, PES University on various aspects of FDI in the field of Insurance,
Defence, and FMCG and Retail Management. Four PG students participated in the
event.
A workshop was organized for PG Students on 30th Oct 2014 on how to prepare for
NET examination, methodology of examination, question paper pattern and the
strategy for preparation by Dr Vithal D Potdar, Principal, Nagarjuna Degree College
of Commerce and Management Studies.
„No learning is complete without practical exposure and training‟. Our PG students
were taken for an industrial visit to Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt. Ltd on 24th February
2015. It was an interacting, informative and a successful visit.
P.G Department had organised a State level inter collegiate Commerce and
Management fest “Aspirations 2014-15 - Transformers for a Global Edge” on 3rd and
4th March 2015 where about nine colleges from Bangalore participated in the fest.
Following events were organised: HR event, Marketing event, Research, Debate,
Best Manager event and Check Mate. Presidency College got the overall
Championship Trophy.
Sixteen students presented Research papers in various seminars & conferences in
the academic year 2014-15.
Setting up of PG LIBRARY
“Libraries represent the diversity and immensity of human thought, our collective
knowledge laid out in rows of revealing inspiration”- Manuel Lima
Libraries are essential in a process of giving citizens access to knowledge. The college
felt the need of separate library for Post Graduate Department. The inauguration of PG
Library was on 1-12-2014. It was inaugurated by SriL.Ananth, G.Lakshmipathiah & Co,
Chartered Accountants in Memory of Smt. Seethamma & Sri. G. Lakshmipathiah.
Saraswathi Pooja was performed on this occasion. The members of Management and
staff from sister institutions attended the same.
