Home Page
The Home Page is the first page the logged in user sees in the ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM. It provides a
hub from which the user can access any ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM function. Because every user
navigates to the home page at login, it can also be customized by the administrative user to display
messages that notify users of important information.
Navigation Menu
The following links are available to users from the Top Navigation Menu:
• The Home link returns the user to the Online Ordering System Home page from anywhere on
the site. Clicking the Perkins Logo will also direct back to the Home page.
• The Product Search link navigates to the Product Search page, which is used to search for the
various publications available for ordering.
• The Shopping Cart link navigates to the Shopping Cart and displays current products and
quantities in the cart. Users can also get to the shopping cart at anytime by clicking the shopping
cart on the right of the page.
• The Order Search link navigates to the Order Search page, where users can find information on
orders that have already been placed. Order search can only be used by a logged in user. If a
casual customer (guest) user clicks this link they will be directed to the login page.
• The My Account link directs the user to the Account Details page where the user name and
email address information can be updated. It also allows for maintenance of pre‐defined
shipping addresses that can easily be selected during ordering. The user can also change their
ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM password. The Account Details page can only be viewed by a logged
in user. If a casual customer (guest) clicks this link they will be directed to the login page.
• The Help link provides the user with answers to frequently asked questions and user
documentation.
• The Administration link includes User Approval, Branch Setup, and page content edit options.
This menu is only available for Admin users.
• The Contact Perkins link in the upper right corner brings the user to a Contact Us page with
useful contact information. This page content can be defined by an admin user.

• The Log In link (in the upper right corner if the user is not logged in) directs the user to the Login
Page.
• The Log Out link (in the upper right corner if the user is logged in) logs the user out of the
ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM.
Login Page
The Login Page provides current users with an entry point into the PERKINS ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM.
It also includes the forgotten password retrieval feature, provides new users access to the User Request
Registration page, and access to Contact Us and Help pages.
Note: Users will be logged out after 20 min of inactivity.
• Existing Users can login by entering their username and password.
• New Users can select ‘User Request’ to fill in a registration.
• A casual customer (guest) can skip the login page and place a credit card order by going directly
to Product Search.

• Forgot password? Users will need to know the answer to the security question set up during the
User Request. Click ‘Forgot Password?’ and the password will be reset and an email with the
new password will be sent to the user.
• Contact us – link to Contact Us page. The Contact Us screen provides email contact information
for Perkins resources who can answer questions about orders or products. Users can click the
email address links to open an email to the resource in their email application (e.g., Microsoft
Outlook).
• Help – link to the Help page. The Help screen provides an online version of this user
documentation. Users can also look through frequently asked questions (FAQs).

User Registration
The User Registration page allows new users to enter their name, email, address and phone number
information to request creation of a new Online Ordering System user account. They will also select a
company for billing purposes. The registration information will be made available to system
administrators, who can review and approve the new user request.
• The user will go through this registration process only one time. After that they will login directly
to the Perkins online order system with their user name and password.
• From the Login page – Click User Request link under the Login button.
• The registration page displays.
• Enter the First Name, Last Name and email. The email can be used by an admin user for contact
if needed. When the user is approved a message will be sent to this email.

• Select a security question and enter the answer. The security question is used if the user forgets
their password.
• Select a Branch. All invoices for the orders placed by this user will be billed to the company
selected in the Branch drop down. If the Branch is not on the list or unknown, the user can
leave the option at ‘—Select Branch—‘.
• Enter the address information. This should be the users address information and can be used as
a ship to address.
• Check the box if the address is a Residential address.
• Create a User Name and Password.
• When the form is complete, click ‘Create User’.
• The Registration Information page displays. A site administrator will be notified of the user
request.
• When the user has been approved a message will be sent to the email address provided during
registration.
• The user cannot login until they have been approved.

Product Search
The Product Search page allows users to search for publications based on a variety of criteria. The Add
to Cart / Update Cart links can be used to add quantities of products to the shopping cart for ordering.
• The products are filtered based on User Role.
• Additional filters can be added using Drop Downs or entry.
• Click ‘Search’ to display the results.
• All prices are displayed in US Dollars (USD).
• ‘Clear Search’ clears all the filters to start over.
• To start an order: Find the products, enter the quantity to order and click ‘Add to Cart’.
• After the product has been added to the cart the user can change the quantity and click ‘Update
# in Cart’ or click ‘Remove from Cart’ to remove the item.

• Click ‘Proceed to Checkout’ or click the shopping cart to move to shopping cart.
Shopping Cart
The Shopping Cart page provides a summary of all items in your shopping cart. Each line item in the
Shopping Cart corresponds to a line item in your product search for which a quantity of at least 1 was
added to your cart. The Product Name, Product Type, quantity and price are listed for each line item.
The quantities can be adjusted, and line items can be deleted prior to finalizing the order.
• All prices are in US Dollars (USD).
• The user can Delete Items by clicking Delete in the item row.
• The user can change the quantity of an item. After changing the quantity, click ‘Save and Update
Total’.
• Return to product search to add additional products.
• Continue to Checkout when shopping cart is correct.

Order Information Page
The Order Information Page allows the user to enter or view the Bill To information on the left side of
the page and select a ship to address on the right side of the page. The user will also select the Ship
Method and receive a ship cost.
• Bill To – If the user is a Casual Customer, a Bill to Address must be entered. For all other users
this address was previously set up by a site administrator and is not editable here. This is the
branch the user is associated to.
• Ship To – Can be the ‘Same as Bill To’ or it can come from Users Addresses (set up in the My
Account page) or manually entered.
• If the Bill To has Third Party Bill for Shipping Charges set up, the user can click ‘Yes’ and select
the account from a drop down.
• Fulfillment Center – the fulfillment center for the order is determined by the Ship to Country
and the users Role.

• Ship Carrier and Method – the options are dependent on the fulfillment center.
• Calculate shipping cost – click this button to return the shipping cost.
• Delivery Instructions – NOT used to determine any shipping requirements. This text will appear
on a packing slip on orders shipped from Midland.
• The order can be cancelled at this point. The shopping cart will be emptied and user returned to
the Home page OR
• Click ‘Next’ to continue placing order.

• If the order is a Facility order this page is skipped.
• If the fulfillment center is United States – the US tax page displays.
• If the fulfillment center is not the United States – an International tax page displays.
o The user can enter a Customer Tax ID.
• The User must read the terms and click ‘I agree’ to continue to the Order Confirmation page.
Order Confirmation page
The Order Confirmation page provides the user with a final review of the order information before
placing the order. Information includes the line item products with quantities and product price.
Shipping charge and the calculated tax are also itemized.
• Please review the order.
• Select Payment Type – Payment types can be set up by an Admin user through Administration –
Payment Options.

• If using a Credit Card enter the card number and expiration date.
• If using a Purchase order enter the Purchase order number.
• At any time the user can click the shopping cart to return to the shopping cart. This will require
that they reenter the shipping information.
• After confirming the order, Click ‘Submit Order’. The order will be submitted to Midland and the
Order Details page will display.
• The user will receive a confirmation email sent to the email in “My Account ‐Personal
Information”.
Order Details
• The Order Details page displays when the order has been submitted.
• The order cannot be changed, it is view only. The Order Details can be printed by clicking the ‘Print’
at the bottom of the page.
• Order Details can also be accessed from the Order Search results. (Logged in users only.)
My Account
• The Account Details page is displayed.
• Personal info –The User can change their Name and email. The Role and Branch can only be changed
by an admin user. Order Acknowledgements for orders placed by this user will be sent to the email
address in the Personal Information.
• Address – The User can add or edit addresses. These are used for shipping addresses when placing
an Order. The initial address entered by the user during the user request is identified a “Registration
address”. The labels show in the ship to drop down when placing an order. The labels can be edited
by the user.
Order Search
• Logged in Users can see all orders for the branch they are assigned to.
Help
• Provides the user with answers to frequently asked questions and user documentation.

• There are links to email addresses for further questions.
Casual Customers – Guests
A customer can place orders without registering as a user by selecting Product Search and then continue
through the order process. Guidelines for Casual Customer orders:
• The Casual Customer will receive Retail pricing.
• The user will supply the Bill to and Ship to address information.
• The shipping cannot be billed to a Third Party shipping account.
• Credit card payments will be accepted. Purchase Orders are not allowed.
• The Order Search and My Account menu options will redirect to the Login page. These pages are
only available to users who are logged in.
