EQ UIPMENT NEWS Premium Grade nary rings ing Holder Among the features of this pusher seal are: stationary flexible element -- this minimizes rotating components, eliminates shaft-to-box alignment problems and leads to im- proved face tracking and lower leakage. premium grade carbon face -- this leads to high resistance to blistering and fracturing, and a high thermal conductivity reduces the potential for flashing. The face is designed using finite ele- ment analysis (FEA) to minimize pressure and thermal and mechanical dis- tortion through the entire operating pressure range. increased face pair lubrica- tion -- flow distribution generates a small pressure drop, creating a circum- ferential flush directed at the faces, reducing the accumulation of vapours and increasing face lubrica- tion. block seat -- contact with a metal mating ring adapter effectively removes face heat, reducing the potential for flashing. user friendly design -- the retaining feature unitizes a stationary flexible element making the seal simple to assemble; in addition, the cartridge design facilitates easy installation. The performance capabilities of the Type 594 are speeds up to 25 m/s, pressures ranging from vacuum to 34 bar and tempera- tures from -40 to + 200 °C. Peripheral pump range upgraded An extended peripheral pump range designed for both OEM and general purpose applica- tions has been launched by Stuart Turner. The models are more compact than their predeces- sors and offer improved perfor- mance and efficiency; the 250, 330, 500 and 600 are each available in two body designs; end suction (ES) or vertical suction (RG). The range has also been upgraded with a new terminal box to protect the capacitor and a redesigned pump head. A green motor casing distinguishes the up- graded range which requires no routine maintenance during its working life. A full range of power sup- plies are available on all motors including three phase options on model 500. Seal materials can be selected dependent on the liquid to be pumped. Multi-stage centrifugal pumps for irrigation duties Designed to ISO 24548-C for outputs up to 7.5 m3/h the Majmar DHR Series of low noise level, high efficiency horizontal multi stage centrifu- gal pumps is suitable for process water, transfer and general industrial applications as well as pressure boosting and irrigation duties. The range comprises five sizes for pressures up to 6 bar and ambient temperatures up to 40 °C. A feature of the DHR Series is a high level of compo- nent interchangeability as well as dimensional compatibility with most other manufac- turer's comparable designs. Shafts, impellers and diffu- sers are stainless steel with cast iron end housing and carbon/ ceramic single mechanical seal. Motors are Class F insulation with IP54 protection. B Low maintenance disc coupling line launched The Falk Corporation has announced the addition of low- maintenance, FDC close- coupled disc couplings to its disc coupling line. Designed in both wide-gap and narrow-gap between-hub models, the couplings are suited to retrofitting elastomer, grid, gear, or centre plate-design disc couplings. The new design's axially-split spacer allows replacement of discs and hard- ware without disturbing connected equipment. WORLD PUMPS MARCH 1995 I(
