• Dental Caries (tooth decay) is the most common chronic disease of childhood
• Causes pain, sickness and mortality• Inhibits learning, speech and eating
• Is almost entirely preventable!
Why Tooth Brushing in Child Care?
• Educators must assist children in brushing their teeth when children:– are in care for more than four hours, or– consume a meal
Massachusetts Children Suffer!
Kindergarden children had evidence of dental decay,most of those children having untreated dental decay.
