    9 / Known Issues 9

    7.2.3 Synchronized Log

The Position of the red line of the depth log in the synchronized log sometimes

will not synchronize with the time data.

    7.2.4 Hydraulics

Hydraulic Model cannot handle Reamer while Drilling (RWD) BHA.

    7.2.5 Rig State

Rig State will not compute continuously if you use CRPM as source of rotation

especially during tripping out or tripping in. Rig State will start to compute when

rotation is detected after the trip activity.

    7.2.6 Wellbore Geometry

When you change OD or ID of an activity in the Wellbore Geometry, clicking the

Activity will produce an exception which would not affect PTK.

7.2.7 Plotting Plan Survey and Actual Survey on a DepthCross Plot

If the plan surveys are plotted together with the actual survey on the same axis

and you change the depth interval, the position of the two lines might switch.

7.2.8 DMM Wellbore Curvature Estimate (Bending)Computation

The software does not compute the Wellbore Curvature Estimate when the build

rate is 0.5 deg/100 ft and when the bending moment measurement is below

the model bending moment at 0 deg/100 ft. This is to ensure that the algorithm

    outputs a high confidence estimation.

    15/18

    10 / Known Issues 10

    7.2.9 Partial Underreamer/Hole opener support

PTK 3.1 supports the underreamer/borehole opener component computation in

the TAD and DMM Wellbore Curvature Estimate features. The computations

mentioned simulates the wellbore geometry with dual hole size (bit hole size from

bit to underreamer/hole opener and underreamer/hole opener cutter size to last

    casing depth) during on-bottom drilling.

The software uses the Max Drill Hole Diameter parameter, which you input in

the BHA Editor, in the computation for the hole size above the underreamer or

    holeopener BHA component.

The Tripping Load Analysis (TLA) and RT Hydraulics do not utilize the dual

    hole size.

    7.2.10 Sidetrack Wizard sequencing logic

The sidetrack wizard feature logic has been identified through the user Software

Modification Report (SMR) to not fully meet the user requirements. The issue

is not addressed in PTK 3.1.

    7.2.11 Hydraulic Computation Performance

The fix in the logic of the hydraulics computation in PTK 3.1 has impacted the

    computation speed.

The historical hydraulics computation takes a longer time in PTK 3.1 compared

to PTK 3.0 but produces more accurate results.

    7.2.12 Actual Survey Update

PTK is not designed for complex survey management. When survey points from

a real-time data source come in PTK, they will be the same as the server ones

and you will not be able to make changes during the data streaming.

In offline mode you will be able to edit existing survey or create a new one. When

you re-establish the real-time connection, any survey at a deeper depth than

the existing ones will be appended and any survey at a shallower depth will be

discarded. This means that if you had made any changes, these will be retained.

    11 / Known Issues 11

    7.2.13 Annotations

The position of the plot annotations is not associated with the indexes or

values on the plots. This means that when you change the unit system, the

locations of the annotations will not change, even if the indexes are updated

    to the new units.

The annotations text will not be visible when you print a log with MaxWell

    header.

    7.2.14 Importing/Exporting Issues DOX Related

When you import an ASCII format survey file into Drilling Office X 2.8, the

software will only take the first 3 columns in the following order: MD, inclination

    and azimuth.

If you want to export the survey data to a CSV file from PTK for DOX 2.8 to

import it, please select Inclination as the first channel and Azimuth as the

second channel in the Select Channels dialog box.

    7.2.15 Log Printing

When the AutoFitWidthcheck box is selected, and if there are many tracks in

the log, the index track may become too narrow, and the index number cannot

be printed out. To solve the problem, before printing, please make the indextrack wide enough to show the index number. For details about how to make

a track wider, please refer to To set the properties for a trackin section 12.3

Configuring Tracks in PTK Online Help.

    7.2.16 Non-English Local Setting

PTK will not work properly in non-English local setting. Some features may not

work well and the Changepoint Detector is one of them. Please check Start>

Control Panel >Region and Language Options with Win 7.

    12 / Known Issues 12

7.2.17 Problem with Running PTK Software WithoutAdministrator Privilege

PTK has to be installed and ran with administrator privilege, otherwise there willnot be full access to product files. Refer toInTouch Content ID 4227785for

information on how to handle the access right error.

    7.2.18 Project Size

Some data files may not be cleaned and this causes the project folder size to

increase. It is suggested to run the fi le cleaner utility to reduce the project size.

7.2.19 Project StoragePTK stability issues can occur when you store the PTK project on the server

rather than the local drive. Refer to InTouch SQ Alert 001for more information.

    7.2.20 PTK Data Source

The data source that is transmitting data to InterACT should not publish a

comment/text with &, which is a WITSML reserved character, otherwise the

    7.2.21 Channel Names and Mapping

When a custom channel is published from PTK to InterACT, the maximum

number of characters for the channel name is limited to 32. If the length

exceeds the limit, the channel will not be published.

For a channel to be displayed in PTK, the maximum number of characters

for the channel name has to be less than 45. Please do not exceed this limit

when you do channel mapping, otherwise the channel will not be created in

    the system.

If a channel is not defined in the PTK channel preference list, the channel

name will be by default set to the channel code. Typical examples are the

ROPO output channels which originally have descriptive names but these

are then overridden to channel code when written to PTK.
