B1 Ajuga, Caitlin's Giant A reliable shade groundcover with large green leaves. This groundcover spreads mannerly
and blooms beautiful purple flowers on 8-10" spikes in the spring. Caitlin's Giant Ajuga
grows 3-6" tall and 12-24" wide. Soil needs to stay evenly moist.
G1 American Beautyberry This deciduous shrub makes a very beautiful display of berries in the fall. These berries
are usually magenta/fuchsia but sometimes white. These berries form in clusters on the
branches. Grow this shrub in part shade and watch as it attracts birds and butterflies.
Give it plenty of room because it grows 3-6' tall and 4-6' wide but could reach 9' tall!
Keep soil moist and prune in early spring to keep a more compact shape. Texas native
plant.
B2 Angel Trumpet, Double
White
Striking tropical-looking small “trees” that will bloom magnificent, fragrant, 12” trumpet-
shaped flowers in a wide range of soft colors. Angel’s Trumpets are treated as large, root-
hardy perennials. There are years they don’t freeze back at all, and years when they do.
They will grow anywhere from 6’ to 12’ tall. Absolutely gorgeous at the back of a bed or
as a major accent. Not recommended for families with small children because they are
toxic. Sun or light shade. Moist, well-drained. Visited by the evening-flying
hummingbird moth.

B5 Blackfoot Daisy Blackfoot Daisy grows well in full sun but can take part shade. Growing to 6-12" tall in
clumps 1-2'across. Blooms pretty white flowers with yellow centers from about March to
November. Great for rock gardens and is drought tolerant. Plant in a raised garden or in
containers to ensure good drainage. A good nectar plant for bees, butterflies and insects
and the seeds are good for birds. Texas Native.
B7 Blue Stars Part shade loving perennial. Blooms pretty tubular blue flowers from March to May.
Prune after it blooms. Grows 1-3' tall in clumps. Keep soil moist. Native to Texas
B6 Blue-Eyed Grass, Suwannee A clumping grassy perennial that grows to about 1' tall and 12-18" wide. Keep in mind
that this plant is very vigorous. Has bright blue flowers in May and June. This plant can
tolerate soil that is wet or dry. Attracts native bees and the seeds are a great bird food.
G2 Bog Coneflower Perennial plant flowering spring to fall. Flowers are yellow with a brown center. Grows 5-
7' tall. Prefers full sun and moist soil. Attracts butterflies, birds, and bees. Native to Texas
B8 Bromeliad, Match Stick A cold hardy (to 20 degrees) perennial with a very unusual bloom. These blooms are on
purple spikes with bright pink tips that look like matchsticks! Blooms in winter. Grows to
16-24" tall and 18-24" wide. Thrives in morning sun to bright light outside and bright
light inside. Needs good drainage and moist soil.

B11 Butterfly Iris, Orange Drops An everg'reen perennial that grows 2-3' tall & wide. Blooms spring through summer with
lovely white flowers with a touch of yellow at the base of each petal. Grows best in light
shade but can take full sun. Good drainage and with little water is best.
B12 Calliandra, Red Powder Puff This small evergreen tree grows to about 6-12' tall and wide. Blooms tons of watermelon
colored powder puff type blooms whenever it is warm. Root hardy in zone 9. Regular
water
B13 Catchfly A low growing mounding perennial that blooms May to September with pretty clusters of
pink phlox like flowers. Grow in full to part sun, probably part sun in our zone. Get's
name from the white substance that seeps from damaged areas on the stems. This sticky
sap snares small insects.
B14 Cedar Sage This is a part shade growing salvia! When planted under big leafed deciduous trees keep
the leaves raked so this sage can seed. A perennial that grows 1-2' tall. Red flowers
March - August. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds and has high deer resistance.
Drought tolerant and a Texas native.
B15 Cereus, Day-Blooming Hot
Pink
This is a spineless cactus plant with some of the most beautiful flowers around! Usually
this cactus starts blooming in February or March. In our area, grow this plant in shade.
Spray and mist the plant except when in bud. Soil should be similar to orchid soil, coarse
and with small bits of charcoal.
C1 Cestrum, Red A fast growing evergreen shrub for part shade. Clusters of red flowers in spring and
summer. Grows to 10' and can be trained. Great plant for hummingbirds.
C2 Clematis There are tons of different clematis. This is a perennial vine that grows to varying heights
and spreads. Available in various colors; pink, red, white, blue, purple and even mixed
colors. Grow in full sun keeping the roots shaded.
C3 Columbine, Hinckley This is a semi-evergreen , unique yellow flowering perennial. Plant in part shade to shade.
Blooms tons of flowers from April to May. Grows to 1-3' tall in moist soil. Is a great
attractor for butterflies and birds. Native to Texas
C4 Copper Canyon Daisy A medium sized, wonderfully textured, aromatic shrubby perennial that explodes with
bright, golden-yellow flowers in the fall & sometimes in spring. 3’ tall by 4’ wide.
Responds well to pruning. Full sun, light shade. Butterflies!
G4 Coral Honeysuckle Perennial semi-evergreen vine growing to 15-20' tall. Blooms Mid spring with sporadic
blooming after that. Plant in sun to part shade in well draining soil with plenty of air
circulation. Beautiful clusters of red tubular flowers. These red flowers attract butterflies,
bees and hummingbirds and birds are attracted to the fruit. Native of Texas
G3 Coralberry A wonderful, small native perennial shrub with slender arching stems and green-blue
foliage that turns red in the fall. Small burgundy-pink berries persist even after the leaves
have dropped in the winter. It’s an outstanding under story shrub or tall “groundcover”.
Coralberry prefers light shade. Averages 2’- 3’ tall, but may reach 4’ - responds well to
pruning. Drought tolerant once established. Birds!
C5 Coreopsis, Broad Street A great perennial that thrives in hot, humid weather and loves full sun. Blooms reddish
orange flowers with yellow tipped petals. Plant in well draining soil. Drought tolerant
once established. Grows to 15-18" tall and 18" wide.
C6 Crossvine, Tangerine Beauty This is a vigorous growing perennial vine, reaching 30' long in no time. Blooms in late
spring and summer with beautiful tumpet shaped orange flowers. Plant in full sun but can
take part shade, with fewer flowers. Attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. Native Texas
plant
C7 Cuphea, Fairy Dust Cutest cuphea ever! Blooms tons of tiny pink flowers from spring to fall. Plant in sun to
part sun. Grows 10-16" tall. This cuphea is drought and heat tolerant. Grow it as an
annual.
C8 Cuphea, Little Bat Face This unusual & tough cuphea is a beacon of adorable, fluorescent red & purple “bat-face”
tubular flowers throughout the heat of late spring through summer to fall. It forms an 18”
mound of arching stems, grows in sun or light shade, & likes good drainage. Root hardy
to the low 20’s. Blends well at the front of a perennial bed or cascading over a wall or
container. Also works well in hanging baskets. Hummingbirds.
C9 Dahlia Dahlias grow 16-18"tall and 12-16" wide. Plant in full sun for the best blooms in spring.
The blooms are in brillant colors with a semi double bloom..
C10 Dutchman's Pipe, White
Veined
This is a groundcover Dutchman's pipe for a part sun to part shade garden. This perennial
grows to 6-12" tall with a spread of 18-36". Can be evergreen here. Flower is only about
1" long and is purple/brown on yellow; very unique. This is a host plant for the
swallowtail butterfly
G5 Dwarf Barbados Cherry This weeping form of dwarf Barbados cherry can serve a variety of uses! Their small size
makes them ideal for tucking between rocks, planting in containers, bordering flower beds
or used as a groundcover. The glossy green foliage resembles holly leaves, and their white
blooms appear off and on during spring, summer and fall. Small red fruit appears late fall
or early winter. Prefers partial sun to shade. Evergreen in mild winters. Protect from frosts
and freezes.
C11 Elkhorn Fern This is a terrestrial fern. Grow in moist, well-drained soil in an area with part to full
shade. This fern can handle light frost. Grows to ' in clumps.
C12 Euphorbia, Glitz Amazing white blooming euphorbia. Blooms year round in masses of tiny white flowers
that cover the plant. Mounds to 10-14" tall & 12-18" wide. Plant in full to part sun.
C13 Firetail Chenille An attractive and unusual groundcover for partial shade that slowly carpets the ground and
is almost constantly covered with 3” – 5” long crimson flower tassels. Evergreen in most
winters. Partial shade, moist, well-drained soil.
G6 Flame Acanthus This deciduous shrub is one of the best hummingbird attracting plants around. Usually
grows to 3' tall but can be taller. Tubular flowers are red/organge and cover the shrub

G7 Gaura, Pink Butterflies Upright growth habit with loads of flowers on sturdy stems. Gaura is a very drought and
heat tolerant plant, and one of the longest blooming perennials if spent blooms are
sheared. Full sun, 12”- 18”, fast grower. Butterflies and hummingbirds! Nice cut flower.
C15 Geranium, Centennial Grows 12-16" tall in sun to part shade. Great in containers. Has beautiful two toned
leaves, bright green edges with bronzy centers. Grow this geranium as an annual
C16 Gladiolus, Orange Gladioli are an old time favorite great for getting lots of flowers into a small space.
Excellent for a cutting garden. Plant in groups for the best effect. Grows to a height of
30" to 40". Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Corms can over winter in the garden.
D1,D2 Ground Orchid, White These ground orchids thrive in part sun to shade in moist, fertile soil. Grows in clumps
and once established will have dozens of flower spikes. Divide large clumps in late
summer to early fall. Relatively hardy.
G8 Gulf Coast Muhly, Pink A clumping native grass to the Houston & surrounding areas with very fine foliage. Gulf
Coast Muhly is a showstopper in the fall producing an absolute cloud of pink flowers!!! It
makes a great border specimen & is spectacular in mass plantings! It’s also a great grass
for coastal gardens. Averages 2’ tall. Moist, but well-drained soil. It’s drought tolerant
once established. Sun.
G9 Gulf Coast Muhly, White
Cloud
A clumping native grass that produces shows of white whispy flowers in the fall. Grows
to 3' tall and 4' wide. Great to plant for erosion control or in masses. Drought tolerant.
Prefers full sun and well drained-soil. Drought tolerant once established.
G10 Gulf Coast Penstemon A native evergreen perennial with 3’ flower stalks covered with tubu- lar lavender flowers
for 4 to 5 weeks in spring. This penstemon is na- tive to the Houston area & forms a lush
dark green mound of foliage all winter. Sun, part shade. Clumps out & reseeds.

D3 Hibiscus, Variegated Grows 6' high to 3' wide. Will die back to the ground in a freeze, but usually return from
the roots. Can be grown in containers to protect from freezing temperatures. Large red
flowers are just one attraction of this shrub. The showy leaves make for continual interest.
Prefers full sun to light shade and well-drained, moist soil.
D4 Hummingbird Plant These drought tolerant, heat loving shrubs are great for attracting hummingbirds and other
pollinators. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Plants grow to 2' tall and spread to 3'
wide. Red-orange flowers are tubular and appear summer through fall. Excellent choice
for conatiner gardening.
D5 Hydrangea, Oregon Pride This deciduous shrub grows from 4' to 8' tall and 4' to 5' wide. Blooms are pink, red and
purple and blooms summer through fall. Prefers sun with protection from afternoon sun
or mostly shade and well-drained soil. Water regularly.
D6 Lantana, Imperial Purple Lantanas are fabulous perennials for any sunny garden! Tough, low mounding, colorful,
& drought tolerant once established. 18”-24” mounding plants. Sun. Moist, well
drained. Butterflies!

D8 Lemon Verbena This plant grows to 6' tall and 8' wide. Leaves can be used in cooking and making teas or
other beverages. Leaves have a sweet lemon flavor. Tender perennial. Prefers full sun to
part shade and fertile, well-draining soil. Cut back plants to keep plant from becoming
leggy.
D9 Louisiana Iris, White TSF Blooms from late March to early May and grows best in full sun. Prefer fertile soil and
moist environment. Does well if placed in an aquatic garden either in a pot with the top
just a few inches below the surface or planted along the edges. Remove large seedpods
that form after flowering to keep plants more attractive and vigorous.
D10 Mahonia This evergreen shrub grows to 6 feet or taller and 5' wide. Prefers part sun and is a great
choice for growing under shade tree canopies or shaded courtyards. Blooms in early
spring and produces berries as well as fall color. Prefers moderately fertile soil that is
well-drained.
D11 Mexican Bush Sage A beautiful, upright growing 4’ salvia with velvety purple spikes of flowers. Blooms a
little in spring & summer & has its most spectacu- lar display in fall. Prefers full sun. A
must for hummingbirds!
G11 Milkweed, Green This native milkweed grows best in full sun and moist soil. Flowers are white, yellow,
green and purple and occur as one umbel per stem. Blooms from spring through fall.
Deciduous. Grows from 1' to 3' tall.
G12 Milkweed, Swamp This plant grows from 2' to 4' tall. Deciduous. Blooms are small and rose-purple and
appear in clusters. Less milky sap from this milkweed than others. Grows best in sun to
part shade and moist soil. Will tolerate heavy clay. Blooms early summer through fall.

D12 Mock Orange This fast growing shrub will grow to be 8' to 10' tall and 6' to 8' wide. Showy spring
flowers are white with yellow centers and extremely fragrant. Prefers full sun.

D13 Orchid, Doritis The genus Doritis is made of orchids that prefer growing in lowlands under the shade of
trees or shrubs. This genus can withstand warmer temperatures. Allow planting media to
dry completely before watering. These orchids prefer humidity between 55 and 60%..
Cutting back spikes after blooms fade may produce a second set of blooms.
D14 Phlox, Paparazzi Jagger This vigorous growing hybrid phlox grows from 5" to 10" tall. Great for rock garden,
border or woodland garden. Can grow in sun, but is shade tolerant. Lavender flowers
from mid to late spring.
E1 Porterweed, Blue A fantastic butterfly plant. Grows 3' to 4' high and 2' to 3' wide. Blooms year round in
frost-free zones and will reseed in milder climates. Likes full to part sun.
E2 Porterweed, Coral A fantastic butterfly/hummingbird plant. Coral porterweed grows 6' high to 4' wide.

E4 Purple Sage Purple sage (or salvia) is a bushy perennial native to the desert western US. Drought
resistant. Prefers sandy/rocky soil. Likes full sun.Grows to 2' to 3' tall and can be wider.
Silvery -gray leaves. Flowers are a deep blue-violet and blooms in early summer.
G13 Red Buckeye This deciduous shrub grows 12" to 15" tall and wide. Blooms are bright red in late spring,
early summer. Grows best in part shade in moist, but well-drained soil. Native to North
America. Hummingbirds!
E5 Rose, Cinco De Mayo This profusely blooming floribunda rose bush grows from 35" to 47" tall. Blooms are a
blend of rust-red and lavender-smoke. Medium stem length. Flowers are medisum size at
approximately 3.5" in diameter. Excellent disease resistance.
E6 Rose, Climbing Pinkie This Earth Kind climbing rose grows to 10'. Blossoms are semi-double and pink. Blooms
primarily in spring. Lightly fragrant. Classified as a climbing polyantha. Grows best in
full sun and with good air circulation. Nearly thornless.
E7 Rose, Lamarque Lamarque has the purest white blooms with a pale lemon center and the mass of petals lay
quartered in the medium sized, flat blooms which are produced throughout the season in
clusters all over the scrambling canes. Highly fragrant masses of blooms appear
throughout the flowering season.
E8 Rose, Martha Gonzales Named after the woman in whose garden it was found growing in Navasota, Texas in
1984. Single blooms, open flat. Excellent choice for low hedge, border and maas
plantings. Blooms are medium red in color. Not fragrant. Grows to 2' to 3' tall. China

E9 Rose, Mrs. BR Cant Introduced in 1901. Repeat bloomer. Fat, full cabbagey medium pink blooms. Named
2017 Gulf District Rose of the Year. Grows 5' to 8' tall. Tea rose.
E10 Rose, Peggy Martin Peggy Martin, also known as the ‘Hurricane Katrina rose,’ is a vigorous climber that can
easily reach 15 plus feet. It bears clusters of pink shaded flowers that occur from spring
through fall. Promoted as thornless, we find this rose does have prickles on the backs of
the leaves. If you are a novice rose grower or afraid you won’t be successful with roses,
plant this rose. Repeat blooming, medium-pink found rambling climber.
E11 Rose, Red Cascade Introduced in 1976. Classified as a miniature rose because each deep red rose, though it
contains many petals, is only about 1" in diameter. Attracts attention with its fine-leafed
foliage. Blooms continually from Spring through Frost. Grows 12' to 18' .
F1 Salvia, Heatwave Blaze Evergreen shrub that blooms masses of of dark red bloom from spring to fall. Compact
and rounded growth habit. Drought tolerant and water wise. Likes full sun. Grows to 2.5'
tall and 3' wide. Aromatic.
F2 Serissa, Kowloon Evergreen shrub that grows to 2' to 3'. Grows best in light shade. Blooms tiny, star-
shaped flowers in spring and fall. Leaves are leathery, ovate and green with white
margins.
F3 Shimp Plant, Fruit Cocktail A charming hummingbird attractor! As easy to grow as other Shrimp Plant selections,
‘Fruit Cocktail’ offers a constant display of golden-lime colored bracts accented by bright
red flowers. Forms a 2’- 3’ mound of lush foliage. Root hardy. Sun or part shade.

F4, F5 Shrimp Plant Variegated Native to Mexico, this wonderful hummingbird attractor forms a 3’ mound of soft, apple-
green leaves with subtle variegation. Produces 3” spikes of overlapping plum-red bracts
with bright red and cream flowers. These spikes eventually lengthen to 6”- 7” and
resemble large red shrimp. This is the MOST floriferous of the shrimp plants. Responds
well to pruning, is root hardy, grows in sun or light shade, and moist, well-drained soil.

G14 Silverbell, Two-Wing Also known as Snowdrop Tree, the two-wing silverbell can be found growing as an
understory tree on stream banks in Southeast Texas. Likes moist, acid soils.Grows to 30'
high and 25' wide. Blooms waxy white flowers in spring. Moderately heat tolerant and
high to medium water requirements. Deciduous.
G15 Skullcap, Pink This perennial loves heat and sun, drought tolerant and blooms for months on end. Great
for the waterwise garden. Tiny, pink, snapdragon-like flowers cover the neat, compact
mound of foliage. Grows 12” - 18” tall, 24” - 36” wide. Versatile and useful in rock
gardens or in containers.
F6 Spreading Plum Yew A handsome low growing shade evergreen that thrives in heat and humidity and is
extremely deer resistant! Cephalotaxus has glossy, deep green needles borne on slightly
arching branches. Its texture & attractive low spreading habit makes it ideal for along
shaded walkways, around patios, or as part of a foundation planting. Slow growing,
tolerates a wide range of soils, needs very little maintenance, and responds well to pruning
when needed. Matures at about 3’ tall & 4’-5’ wide.
F7 Thryallis Flowering shrub with narrow bluish-green foliage; covered with clusters of small bright
yellow flowers nearly year round! It’s evergreen in mild winters or temperate areas.
Relatively salt & drought tolerant for coastal areas. Can also be used as a hedging.

H15 Echinacea (Echinacea) Also known as coneflowers, this perennial herb is native to Eastern and

H16 Fennel, Green (Foeniculum vulgare)
Looks like dill but the stems are solid and the plant smells like licorice. Clusters of
yellow, umbrella shaped flowers adorn this plant. It can reach 4’x 2’. Full sun, partial

H17 Lavender, Goodwin Creek (Lavandula hetero- phylla)
This lavender is said to tolerate more water than most lavenders. It has silver-gray foliage
and dark blue flowers. Well-drained soil. 2’-3’ tall. Full sun. Evergreen perennial.
H18 Lavender, Provence (Lavandula intermedia) Powerfully fragrant foliage and mauve pink flowers provide a
treat for the senses. Great butterfly attractor, making this a perfect selection for paths,

H22 Mexican Mint Marigold (Tagetes lucida)
Leaves have a pleasant anise-like aroma. Flowers are borne on top of plant in fall. They
are bright golden yellow. Sometimes called Texas tarragon, it is used in recipes that call

H23 Mint, Corsican (Mentha requienii) This tiny, creeping mint can be used to grow between stepping stones.

H24 Mint, Mojito (Mentha x villosa)
The authentic mint native to Cuba used for Mojitos, it has an agreeably mild, warm flavor.

H28 Oregano, Italian (Origanum vulgare) This perennial herb is the key to flavoring Italian dishes. Likes full to

H31 Parsley, Triple Curled (Petroselinum hortensis) This is a popular variety of parsley that is easy to grow. Often

H32 Rosemary, Arp (Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Arp’) Discovered in Arp, Texas by Madalene Hill, this cold-
hardy and upright rosemary probably has the best flavor for cooking. Well adapted to the
Texas climate. Displays bluish-white flowers. Grows best in light, well-drained soil.
Water thoroughly when soil is dry. Hardy to 18 degrees. 4’x3’. Perennial.
H33 Rosemary, BBQ (Rosmarinus officinalis 'Barbeque') This variety of rosemary is especially good for
cooking. Fast growing and upright in habit. Likes full sun and well-drained soils.

A low-growing rosemary used as a ground cover or spilling over the edges of containers.

butterflies. 12”x36” or more. Well-drained soil. Full sun. Perennial.
H36 Rosemary, Tuscan Blue (Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Tuscan Blue’)
This upright rosemary with beautiful blue flowers is suitable as an ornamental bush or
hedge. Fresh, dried, or frozen, rosemary can be used with pork, veal, stews, herbal butters,
vinegars, and jams. Unique, sweet pinewood scent in leaves, flowers and oil is valuable in
perfumes, toiletries and sachets. Very drought resistant. Well-drained soil. 4’–6’ tall. Full
sun. Perennial.
H37 Sage, Berggarten (Salvia officinalis ‘Berggarten’) This pleasantly mounded, compact sage has large, oval
downy gray leaves with a superb fragrance that are easy to harvest. The plant develops a
purplish cast in full sun. The flavor is just as good as the narrow pointed leaves of Garden
Sage. Trim often by taking three or four inches of new growth, but avoid late fall pruning.

H38 Sage, Culinary (Salvia officinalis) A fantastic culinary herb for any kitchen garden. Used commonly in
fish, pork, poultry, and vegetable dishes. Likes full sun and well-drained soil. Grows to

A dainty rosette clump with arching stems and small round red flowers. It has small round-
toothed blue green leaves that taste like cucumbers. Use in salads, vinegars, butters, and

H40 Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana)
Can be used to make a very sweet sugar substitute. In the fall, its white blooms attract

H41 Thyme, Creeping Red (Thymus praecox 'Coccineus') This perennial herb groundcover is a great choice for filling
in between pavestones. Very fragrant. Blooms in summer. Likes part to full sun and well-

H42 Thyme, English (Thymus vulgaris) The basic thyme. Aromatic leaves with white flowers in summer. Plant

H43 Thyme, Lemon (Thymus citriodorus) This perennial ground cover herb smells and tastes like lemon.

This low growing creeping thyme is excellent for planting between stepping-stones or as a
groundcover in a small area. It does need at least a half-day of sun. It has lavender flowers
in spring and early summer. Use the fresh or dried leaves in soup, sauces, bread, and with
carrots, beets, peas, beef, chicken, eggs, and fish. Well-drained soil. 3”x12”. Full sun,
afternoon shade. Perennial.
H45 Thyme, Pink Chintz (Thymus 'Pink Chintz') This perennial groundcover herb is great for use between stepping
stones. Grows to 1" tall and spreads 18". Likes part to full sun and well-drained soil.

I2 Bell, Cajun Sweet and spicy pepper, 60 days. Small peppers ripen from lime green to orange to red
and get hotter as they ripen. Each pepper is 2" to 3" long with 3-4 lobes. 100 to 1,000
scoville units.
I3 Bell, California Wonder Sweet bell, 75 days, Heirloom. The standard of the sweet bells since 1928. Deep green to
red, thick-walled, glossy; medium sized fruits - 4"x4" and 3-4 lobed, smooth and blocky.
High yields on 28" plants. Tobacco Mosaic resistant.
I4 Bell, Fajita Large, early maturing "hot" bell. Low pungency. Great raw or cooked. High yield on
compact plant. Well-shaped, 4-lobed.

dependable. Fruits are 6" by 3/4", wrinkled, tapered and slightly curved. Popular for
using as a spice and drying - they look decorative hanging to dry. Scoville units 10,000 -

I11 Hot, Five Color Chinese 85 days. These peppers are extremely hot - 30,000 Scoville Units. Typically grown as
ornamental specimens. Peppers range in color from purple to cream to pale yellow to
orange and finally red when ripe.
I12 Hot, Habanero Very hot, 100 days, Hybrid. A close relative of the Scotch Bonnet. This pepper has a
delicious, pungent, smoky quality along with searing heat. Use in sauces and salsa - if you
dare! Scoville units 350,000 - 580,000
I13 Hot, Holy Mole Mildly spicy, 85 days. Peppers are bright green at early maturity then darken to
chocolate brown. Distinctive taste, but not overly spicy, often used in Mexican mole
sauce. Sturdy plants can reach 3 feet tall, peppers are 7” or more. Mature peppers can be
dried and ground.
I14 Hot, Jalapeno 72 days. Medium hot peppers commonly used in cooking. Large, 3" peppers with thick
walls. 2,500 to 5,000 Scoville Units.
I15 Hot, Jalapeno, Fooled You 65 days. These jalapenos are perfect for mid sauces and salsas. Peppers are large and
thick-walled and will mature to red on the plant. Has a similar flavor to Jalapeno, but 0
Scoville Units. No heat at all.
I16 Hot, Jalapeno, Gigantica Gigantea (note spelling change): Moderately hot. 5" fruits. Eat fresh, grill, salsa. Large
size, thick walls. Ideal for stuffing. 68 days.
I17 Hot, Jalapeno, TAM Mild hot, 75 days, Hybrid. Milder than Jalapeno M, this is perfect for those wanting a
little less heat. Semi compact plants, these cylindrical peppers are medium green then red
at full maturity. Perfect for stuffing or dried for chili powder. Excellent yields, disease
resistant. Developed by Texas A&M University. Scoville units 1,000.
I18 Hot, Mad Hatter 65-75 days. These hat-shaped peppers are mild; 500 Scoville Units. Peppers grow to 3.5"
x 2.5". Great for eating fresh, pickled or stuffed.
I19 Hot, Poblano/Ancho Mild hot, 65 days, Heirloom. Called Ancho when dried, this versatile pepper is great for
salsa, grilling, stir fries and making chili powder. Sweet, spicy taste. Scoville units 1000 -
2000
I20 Hot, Serrano Typically eaten raw and have a bright and biting flavor that is notably hotter than the
jalapeño pepper. They are commonly used in making pico de gallo and salsa. They are
particularly fleshy compared to others, making it ideal for such dishes. It is one of the
most-used chili peppers in Mexican cuisine. Scoville units 10,000 - 25,000.
I21 Hot, Tabasco Hot, 90 days, Heirloom. Famous pepper that is the main ingredient in Tabasco Pepper
Sauce. Plants are up to 2-3' tall and covered with fruits that ripen from green to orange
then red. Scoville units 30,000-50,000
I22 Sweet, Banana Sweet non-bell, 70 days, Heirloom. A popular non-bell sweet peppers - excellent fresh,
pickled or cooked! Thick-walled fruits with sweet, mild, waxy flesh are prolifically
produced on 20" plants. Fruits start out a pale green, ripening to yellow, then red. They get
sweeter as they ripen.
I23 Sweet, Cubanelle Sweet, 75 days, Heirloom. Thin walled, long, tapered pepper with lots of flavor. Great
for pickling and roasting or frying. Will turn red if left to mature longer.
I24 Sweet, Giant Marconi An Italian sweet pepper,62 days, lives up to its name, producing large, 8-inch-long fruits
packed with sweet, smoky flavor. Peak flavor is when peppers color to a rich, bright red.
The flavor is wonderful raw, but is richer when grilled or roasted. A 2001 All-America
Selections Winner, this is a strong producer, flowering and forming peppers through
summer heat and humidity and right up until frost.
I25 Sweet, Gypsy Sweet, 65 days, Hybrid. All America Selections winner is a very prolific frying pepper
that is also great in salads. Tapered fruits are 4 ½” long by 2 ½ “ wide, mature from
yellow to orange to red.
