Greetings,
As Mayor, it is my pleasure to welcome you to Peoria. Whether you have
chosen to make us your home, locate your business here, or are just passing
through, we are excited about the opportunity to showcase our City to you!
In the southern part of Peoria, you can visit P83, our Entertainment District.
With many options for entertainment including movies, ice skating, and
shopping, you are sure to find something the entire family can enjoy.
There are many restaurants nearby and the Arizona Broadway Theater provides
you with the opportunity to enjoy a great performance along with a great meal.
We take baseball very seriously here in Peoria. The San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners use our Sports
Complex year-round for their player development needs, which include Spring Training, Extended Spring
Training, Arizona Summer Rookie League, and Fall Instructional League. The facility is also home to the
Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League. The six-team Fall League features top prospects from all the
major-league baseball clubs.
Rio Vista Community Park, located just off the 101 at Thunderbird, offers fishing in a 2.5-acre urban lake,
a skateboard park, ball fields, lighted sand volleyball courts, playground equipment, numerous picnic
ramadas, and a state of the art fitness facility.
If you prefer the outdoors, we have the New River Trail, over nine miles of continuous multi-use trail
from Olive Avenue to north of Deer Valley Road. Please take some time to walk, jog, rollerblade,
skateboard, or bike this scenic route. Pets are welcome and there are underpasses at all major streets that
cross over the trail. This trail also connects to the Skunk Creek Trail at Rio Vista Community Park, a great
option if you are looking to experience a longer bike ride.
Or make your way up to the northernmost part of the City and visit one of the most scenic water
recreation areas in Arizona, Lake Pleasant. The lake offers hiking, camping, picnicking, and watercraft
activities for the entire family. Additionally, Peoria manages and maintains over 10 miles of mountain
hiking trails. These trails provide a quality experience for all levels of skills and abilities from beginners
to advanced hikers.
Whether your stay in Peoria is brief, extended, seasonal or permanent, I hope you enjoy yourself and
make the most of all that the area has to offer!
Sincerely,
City of Peoria

Stress relief remains one of the most prevalent reasons that consumers seek massage – stress from work, constant stress, holiday-related stress, etc. In today’s plugged in, always on-the-go society, stress can be found in all aspects of consumers’ lives.
While some types of stress can be healthy for the mind and body, a 2012 study from the American Psychological Association (APA) revealed deepening concerns about the connection between chronic disease and stress. Research continues to show that stress can negatively impact health by:
• Weakening the immune system, leading to common colds, sicknesses and even more critical medical problems.
• Disrupting sleep problems, leading to fatigue and even insomnia.
• Decreasing positive moods and feelings about yourself and others, leading to depression and an overall sense of unhappiness.
• Causing headaches, upset stomach or digestion, and muscular tension.
• Increasing irritability, anger, anxiety and nervousness.
Though some stress will always be present in our daily lives, incorporating regular massage into one’s wellness routine can yield significant health improvements. Therapeutic massage has been medically proven to support health and wellness and can help counter the negative above-mentioned effects.
Aside from relaxation – both physically and mentally – massage can boost immunity, helping to fight off illness. Massage is gaining popularity among physicians and their patients as consumers become more proactive about their own health. They are realizing that receiving a professional massage – with the right therapist – can help build immunity.
