The Call

The Need: Most of the problems facing today’s youth are not restricted to any one ethnic or religious

group, but affect young people as a whole. Most discussions on youth have focussed on issues such as

drug abuse, crime, violence, sexuality and poverty. In addition to these, today’s youth are affected by

new challenges.

These include:

An Identity Crisis: Who am I?

Lack of self-confidence, low self-esteem and lack of role models

Unhealthy images

Peer pressure

Confusion and ambiguity concerning moral issues: What is right and wrong?

The negative impact of the digital media

Competitiveness in education: the uneven playing field: Excellence by whom? Not Me.

I Am

“I just wanted to thank you and your team of mentors for all that you do. My daughter is a 6th grade student, she loves the Lady of Grace program.” DeShaun Johnson Parent

“The People of Excellence provided a program for several of our most needy students. Students learned aspects of being a "lady" or a "gentleman“, health, self-concept, community service and manners. The students came out of this experience stronger and more positive than before the program. I would definitely recommend this program to other schools.” Nicole Fishter Middle School Principal
