Parish Mission Statement
One Family
United as members of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, we
are committed, as ONE FAMILY, to be messengers of God’s love and
presence in the world, and to welcome and invite others to become part
of this family and this mission.
One Heart
Called by our Baptism to a life of service in the Lord, we are committed,
with ONE HEART, to live in charity, practice the works of mercy, and
work for peace and justice.
One Faith
Strengthened by God’s Word and nourished by His Sacraments, we are
committed, in ONE FAITH, to promote lives of learning, living, and
proclaiming the Gospel message, as we continue to grow in the
knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of all that embodies these
awe-inspiring truths.
“TITHING IS GOD’S PLAN FOR GIVING”
“Take full ownership in your parish. Tithing is a way to do that. Thank you for tithing.” Msgr. Nicolo “I was taught as a child that everything we have and hope to be comes from God. Therefore, it is my pleasure to tithe and give something back.”

NIC NOTES
Dear Parishioners,
Today is Pentecost Sunday. It is the birthday of the Church. It is a day that the Holy Spirit came down upon our Blessed Mother and the Disciples of Jesus and
filled them with the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit. As the Holy Spirit came down upon them as in tongues of fire with a mighty wind and loud noise, they then went out and proclaimed Jesus to everyone. Everyone who heard them, although they did not all speak the same lan-guage, understood them. They understood be-cause of the power of the Holy Spirit. The Apos-tles and Disciples of Jesus, who were timid and afraid and hid because of the fear of the Jews, now went out and proclaimed God's word. My prayer for our Parish this Pentecost is that each and every one of us, who has also re-ceived the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit, be on fire for the Lord. And like the first Pentecost, we would be fearless in proclaiming Jesus to everyone we meet first and foremost by our lives and then by our words. I ask you this day, Pentecost, to make it a point to invite family members and friends who may have fallen away from the practice of the faith to come to Mass with you. I also ask you not to give up on that invitation, if you have re-ceived a polite decline. Pray and invite them over and over and over again. Just like on the first Pentecost, God does wondrous things through his instruments. On the first Pentecost it was the Apostles and Disciples. Today we are Christ's instruments. Invite! Invite! Invite! I also ask you on this day, Pentecost, to invite neighbors and acquaintances who have no church affiliation to come to Mass with you. They most likely would need some assistance in following our Liturgy, especially if they came from a non-liturgical church. It could be as easy as showing them and assisting them with a mis-salette in the church. Statistics show that many people have not been invited by someone they know to come to church with them. Often asked these people of why you don't go to church they say no one has

ever invited me. Let us be an instrument of Christ in the world inviting and welcoming others to be part of our wonderful church. It is absolutely necessary that as a family of believers we be welcoming to everyone who comes to the doors of our Church. It can be as easy as a warm smile and a nod of the head. Happy Birthday! Today is the Birthday of the Church!
May God, through the intercession of St. Helena,
bless us.

KEN’S CACHE
Kudos to John Schieve, Michele Gerstemeier and the Stephen Ministry team who spent many hours preparing for the Stephen Ministry Workshop held in the Social and Recreation Center on Saturday. Thanks also to Msgr. Nicolo who welcomed Laura Warner-Gilmer, our Stephen Minister presenter for the day and the attendees. Many thanks also to the volunteers who prepared and served the snacks and food for the attendees. We heard many say that this was a “first class” program and the food was excellent. All told, we had over 25 different Christian de-nominations with approximately 100 attendees participate in three sessions that lasted from 9:00 AM to 1:15 PM. It was a revealing sight to see so many individuals re-spond to our call to come together to hear how one or-ganization has developed a program which trains lay peo-ple to bring Jesus and his love and forgiveness to people dealing with a loss of a job, good health, a home, a loved one or a myriad of other issues. Here at St. Helena we have been blessed with 12 individuals who began our program over two years ago. It is a minimum two year commitment be a Stephen Minister and 9 ministers have continued their ministry. Even after serving, former minis-ters have discussed how the training they received has helped them in their subsequent lives and we are grateful for their service. We will see how the congregations who attended work out the direction they feel called after this session and look forward to working with them and our own program in the future.
God Bless You,
Deacon Ken

In a place the Mal-vern Retreat House you will find the solace that you desire and need.

the top hits and videos of the 80’s! You can tell by these pictures, these performers did an out-standing job of reminiscing to the music of the 80’s! Our children brought great joy to the esti-mated 325 people entertained over this three day period!

MADELEINE’S MESSAGE It seems unbelievable that another PREP year has come to a close. I would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to our amazing teachers, volunteers, parents, grandparents, and stu-dents who bring so much joy and enthusiasm each week to Saint Helena PREP. The joyful presence of students each week was one of the most visible signs of the Body of Christ in Ac-tion. It is no easy task for families to make the sacrifice of time and travel to get to weekly classes, and yet each year we are so proud of the excellent attendance of our students. This year we had twenty four students with perfect attendance. Two of our eighth grade graduates had perfect attendance for eight years. A big shout out for Mairead McCool and Grace Diebold and their parents for the award. We pray you all have a blessed summer. As we told our students at the closing PREP Pray-er Service and May Procession, “We never take a vacation from God.” We feel confident that you, our parents, will nurture our PREP stu-dents’ faith over the summer through Mass, prayer, and good works. Registration is Tuesday September 6, 2016. Classes start Tuesday September 13, 2016.
Have a great week!
Madeleine
