Pengertian akhlaq menurut para ahli :

1. Imam Ghazali dalam kitab ulumuddin, akhlaq adalah suatu gejala kejiwaan yang sudah mapan dan menetap dalam jiwa, yang dari padanya timbul dan terungkap perbuatan dengan mudah, tanpa mempergunakan pertimbangan pikiran terlebih dahulu.

2. Ibnu Maskawaih dalam kitab tahzibul akhlaq watathirul araq, mendifinisikan bahwa akhlaq itu sebagai sikap jiwa seserorang mendorong untuk melakukan perbuatan-perbuatan tanpa melalui pertimbangan pikiran.

3. Prof. Ahmad Amin, mendifinisikan akhlaq adalah adatul iradah (kehendak yang dibiasakan) lalu menjadi kelaziman (kebiasaan).

Adapun ruang lingkup akhlaq terbagi dalam beberapa bagian :

1. Akhlaq terhadap Kholik

Allah menciptakan manusia hanya untuk menghiasi dan meramaikan dunia. Tidak hanya sebagai kelengkapan, tetapi berfungsi sebagai makhluk. Allah SWT adalah Al-Khaliq (Maha pencipta) dan manusia adalah makhluk (yang diciptakan). Manusia wajib tunduk kepada peraturan Allah. Hal ini menunjukkan kepada sifat manusia sebagai hamba. Kewajiban manusia terhadap Allah SWT Di antaranya :Kewajiban diri kita terhadap Allah, dengan ibadah shalat, dzikir, dan doaKewajiban keluarga kita terhadap Allah, adalah dengan mendidik mereka , anak dan isteri agar dapat mengenal Allah dan mampu berkomunikasi dan berdialog dengan Allah.

Kewajiban harta kita dengan Allah adalah agar harta yang kita peroleh adalah harta yang halal dan mampu menunjang ibadah kita kepada Allah serta membelanjakan harta itu dijalan Allah.

2. Akhlaq terhadap Mahkluk

Prinsip hidup dalam Islam termasuk kewajiban memperhatikan kehidupan antara sesama orang-orang beriman. Kedudukan seorang muslim dengan muslim lainnya adalah ibarat satu jasad, dimana satu anggaota badan dengan anggota badan lainnya mempunyai hubungan yang erat. Hak orang Islam atas Islam lainnya ada 6 perkara :

Apabila berjumpa maka ucapkanlah salamApabila ia mengundangmu maka penuhilah undangan ituApabila meminta nasehat maka berilah nasihatApabila ia bersin lalu memuji Allah maka doakanlahApabila ia sakit maka tengoklahApabila ia meninggal dunia maka iringilah jenazahnya.

Akhlaq terhadap makhluk terbagi menjadi 3 bagian:

1. Akhlaq terhadap diri sendiri.Manusia yang bertanggung jawab ialah pribadi yang mampu bertanggung jawab terhadap diri sendiri . bertanggung jawab atas tugas dan kewajiban yang dipikul diatas pundaknya, kewajibannya –kewajibannya : tanggungjawab terhadap kesehatannya, pakaiannya, minuman & makanannya dan bahkan yang menjadi apa yang menjadi miliknya.

2. Akhlaq terhadap Ibu & BapakSeorang muslim wajib memberi penghormatan yang secukupnya terhadap ayah dan ibunya. Memelihara mereka dihari tuanya, mencintai mereka dengan kasih sayang yang tulus serta mendoakan setelah mereka tiada.

Selain harus berperilaku baik dalam kehidupan manusia, akhlak juga melingkupi cara bersikap terhadap alam, binatang, tumbuhan, kepada yang ghaib, dan semesta alam.

Konsep adalah abstrak, entitas mental yang universal yang menunjuk pada kategori atau kelas dari suatu entitas, kejadian atau hubungan. Konsep adalah abstrak di mana mereka menghilangkan perbedaan dari segala sesuatu dalam ekstensi, memperlakukan seolah-olah mereka identik
