Welcome By tradition, since 1697, the mayor’s home has had the pleasure of hosting the most loyal Spaniards, the most idealistic founding fathers, the most distinguished poets, the most scholarly writers, and you to whom we extend the most cordial invitation to visit us and create a window of memories with the finest company.

“Gatekeepers of Yesterday”
Birth of Pilarco As the Spaniards travelled the Camino Real, later known as Highway South 5, they came upon a hostel called “Pilarco,” this hostel was already settled by the Incas and its location made it most attractive to travellers. The Camino Real was the sole transit route for the north-‐south valley until the year 1930. The Casa Cal y Canto and its church are the historical foundations from which Pilarco was founded in 1786. From here, the town was subdivided into farm lands, ranch lands, and parcels which later became Cumpeo, Camarico, San Rafael, Panguilemo, Vilches and Malargüe.
