HOËRSKOOL PEARSON HIGH SCHOOL

ISSUE/UITGAWE: 5/ 2015

END-OF-TERM/EINDE-VAN-KWARTAAL 1

FROM THE PRINCIPAL/VAN DIE SKOOLHOOF

behaal.

Learners have actually been fantastic with regard to the transition between the

summer sports and the start of the winter sports programme. The winter

season is one that calls for great commitment and all involved have to think

of the interests of the school and the team.

I want to point out to all parents that, in future, we will be travelling as a school to fixtures

against other big schools outside Port Elizabeth. The first fixtures will be Rugby and Netball

games vs Oudtshoorn, and the Rugby Wynberg Festival. The teams will travel together in big

buses. We have communicated the cost of these tours via a letter that each player has re-

ceived. We understand that April will be a very expensive month, but we request parents to

see the value of these fixtures for the whole school. We are excited about this new era in our

sport, as we believe it will take Pearson another level.

I wish all our touring teams the best of luck and I should also like to wish you all a very

pleasant and restful holiday and a safe return next term. May this holiday be a special time

with your family and friends. Thank you for all the support this term.

CONGRATULATIONS TO / GELUK AAN

overall (Super Sprint 14-16 years); Munro Munnik 1st and 2nd overall (Super Sprint 17-19

years) at the Tri A Fun Triathlon Series.

* Caitlin Gouws & Simone Upman who have been selected for the E.P. u/21 Hockey Team

TERM 1 REPORTS

Enclosed please find your child’s first term report. We extend our congrat-ulations to all those learners who have obtained good results or performed to the best of their abilities. We trust that the others will take steps where necessary to ensure a better performance next term.

wees omdat slegs 'n klein gedeelte nou getoets is. The mark indicated in

each subject is based on a number of tests and assignments completed

during the first term. It is a ‘continuous assessment mark’, which counts towards your child’s final

result at the end of this year.

You are reminded of the scheduled PARENT/TEACHER Evenings on TUESDAY, 14 April from

17:30 – 19:30, for Surnames A—L and WEDNESDAY, 15 April from 17:30—19:30, for Surnames

M—Z.

JOT CAMP 2015

A very successful, special camp was held at Waverley

Hills on 20—22 March. 100 Pearson learners attended.

The speakers and worship times were very significant

and very special.

Many young people were ministered to in a very deep

and meaningful way. We thank the Lord for the way

He touched the lives of all these young people.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

All learners are to wear summer uniform until FRIDAY, 17 APRIL. Full

winter uniform is compulsory from MONDAY, 20 April. This means that

every Pearson learner must have a blazer before 20 APRIL.

The boys and girls have been addressed about their uniform and appear-

ance. We are especially concerned about the neatness of the girls' hair and the incorrect

length of the girls' skirts.

Parents must please support us with the uniform neatness policy. Learners not adhering

to the policy will be sent home and given a 3-hour Friday DT.

sal dra.

Our Clothing Shop will NOT be open during the holidays. The Used Clothing Shop is

open every Tuesday afternoon during the term from 14:00 - 15:00.

START OF TERM 2

1st Day: Term 2 starts on Monday, 13 April. We start with Week 1 (Day 1) on the

timetable. Neatness inspection will be held and sports’ practices start on the first

day.

eerste dag reeds begin.
