  • SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

    GPS Safety. Do not program the GPS while driving. Always stop your vehicle when programming or changing the

    settings on tfre GPS. Programming the GPS while driving can cause you to take your eyes off theroad and could result in an accident.

    . Only glance at the display monilor while driving. Prolonged periods of viewing while driving couldresult in an accident.

    . The GPS is used only as a navigation aid. lt is not for precise measurement of direction, distance,speed, time or location. The user must follow all traffic signs and local regulations.

    . Do not rely on the navigation system to route you to the closest emergency services. Not allemergency services are in the database.

    . Make sure the volume is set to a level that still allows you to hear outside traffic and emergencyvehicles.

    . Regardless of how and where the navigation system directs you, it is your responsibility to operatethe vehicle in a safe and legal manner.

    . GPS satellite signals cannot pass through some materials. When you are inside a tunnel or abuilding, the GPS signal may not be available.

  • Install the mounting bracket onto the suction mounting arm by slipping it over the tabs and thensliding it to lock into place.Find a smooth mounting surface inside the vehicle for the display monitor where it can be easilyseen, but not in a position where it can obstruct your vision when driving.NOTE:To maximize the effectiveness of the suction mount, the mounting location surfacetemperature should be between 70' and 100"F (21" and 38'C); avoid application below 50'F(10'C). Do not perform application in direct sunlight.Clean and dry the mounting surface.

    Press the suction mount against the mounting surlace and push the suc{ion iocK lever down.Make sure it is attached securely.NOTE: After mounting, protect the mounting surface from direct sunlrght for 24 roursPlace the display monitor on the mounting bracket and push on the top of the rnonitor to snap itin olace.Plug in the 12-volt DC power adapter/charger into a cigarette lighter/accessory socket.     Quick Start-Up Guide

    lEIIEElthe GPS is shipped in a partially chargedstate. BEFORE first use, charge the6iFry using the 12-volt DC charging adapter.The light on the front of the GPS will be redwhen inarglng. When the light turns green, the unit is fully charged. The unit can be usedwhile charging.

    Charging Guidelines and Precautions. Only use the charging adapter that was provided with the GPS. Use of other chargers or adapters

    may void any warranty, cause damage to the GPS, increase risk of fire and/or result in personalinjury.

    . Do not submerge the charging adapter in water or any liquid. Keep it dry and free of dirVdust at alltimes.

    r Do not overheat or overcharge the battery.NOTE:These steps will give you a brief introduction on how to use the GPS. For a more detailedprocedure, see "Exploring the Screens" on page 10.

    Make sure the battery is fully charged. The light on the front of the unit will be green when fullycharged.When using in a vehicle, it is recommended that you leave the GPS plugged in.Press and hold the power button for several seconds to turn the GPS on.From the "Main Menu", press the "Navigation" icon.When the GPS is started for the first time, this screen will appear. Press the "Accept" button tocontinue to the navigation screen. lf you press the "Decline" button, it will exit the navigationapplication.

    It may take a few seconds for the next screen to load. Once the screen is loaded, you will be atthe "Navi Map" screen. Press the "Menu" button.

    B. Press the "Address" icon on the screen.9. Choose a state from the list by scrolling through using the up and down arro,'s c" the rtght.'10. Press the state that you want to highlight it, and then press the "Next butlon Arier the first use, it

    will default back to the last state selected.

    11. A keyboard will appear. Begin typing in the city you want.When the unit finds a match, a list of cities will appear.

    12. Press the city you want to highlight it, and then press the "OK" button.13. You can now enter in a road by pressing on the highlighted area. A keyboard will appear.14. After entering a road, you can enter an address by pressing on the highlighted area and usin

    the keyboard.You can also enter a crossroad the same way. lf you need to go back a screen,oress the back arrow.

    15. Once you have all the information entered, press the "OK" button.16. Press the "Go" button. lt will now begin searching for the GPS satellites.

    NOTE:When using the first time, it may take a few moments to find the GPS satellites.

    At power up, the Peak screen will appear while loading, followed by the "Main Menu".

    NavigationWhen entering the "Navigation" system for the first time, the "System Attention" screen will appear.

    Read the statement and press the'Accept" button to enter the "Navigation" system or the "Declinebutton to exit the system. Checking the box and then pressing "Accept" will skip this screen uponsubsequent entrances into the Navigation system.The welcome screen will appear, and will automatically take you to the "Navi Map" screen.

    19. pressing "Power Off" will turn the GPS off. Pressing the "Sleep" button will put the GPS to sleep.To wakJthe GpS when it is asleep, push the power button. This will take you to the last screenvou were at when GPS was put to sleep.

  • To access more options, press the "Menu" button. This will take you to the "Navi Menu".

    Besides the three main buttons on this screen ("Go to", "Map Options" and "Settings"), you can alsopress:

    . The "Map" button to go to the "Navi Map" screen.

    . The Exit button to exit "Navigation" and go back to the "Main Menu".NOTE: Before using the navigation system for the first time, you may want to adjust the settings for yourpersonal preferences. See "Settings" on page 20.

    Go toPressing the "Go to" button from the "Navi Menu" takes you to the "Search Menu", where you canspecify start point or end destination.

    AddressThe "CityiPostcode" screen appears after pressing the'Address" icon.

    The syslem defaults to the last city and state entered.

    To choose a new location:1. Press the Yellow button containing the current state.

    NOTE: Many functions in the "Navigation" system can be selected in multiple ways:a. By pressing the desired item to highlight it, and then pressing the "Next" or "OK" button.b. By quickly doubletapping the desired item.

    Hereafter, the term "select" will be used.2. Scroll to your desired state using the up and down arrows and select it.

    3. The "Name entry" keyboard will appear. Start to enter the name of the city.

    Select your desired city.NOTE:After using the unit, it will store the last state entered, as well as a list of cities in that statethat have been searched. From that screen, you can select a city previously searched, or click inthe white "City I Postcode" bar and enter the city name or zip code.

  • 7. a. Press the "Click here and search house number." bar and enter the house nurnber of yourdestination in the same manner you entered the city and road. You can press the "ABC"button if the house number contains letters.

    b. you can also press the "Click here and search crossroad." bar to search by crossroad in thesame manner vou entered the initial road.

    Press the "Click here and search road." bar to enter the name of the road in the same manner asentering the city. Select your desired road.You can also press the "On Map" button to view thelocation on the map.

    B. You can press the "On Map" button to verify the location entered, or press the "OK" button to entetthe "Route Plan" screen.

    g. Press the "Go" button to start navigating or press the "Simulate" button to simulate the route youwilltake.

    See "Route Plan" on page 17 for complete route options.

    Point Of InterestYou can search destinations by categories of interest through the "Point Of Interest Menu" using the"Near Current Position", 'Around AddreSS" and "POl Search by Phone" functions.

    Near Current PositionPressing the "Near Current Position" icon brings up a point of interest category list consisting of 22categories.

  • Select your desired category. A list of results matching your category, including their address anddistance from your current location, will appear, arranged from closest to farthest.From the points of interest list, you can scroll and select your desired item, click in the white "Name" barto enter the name of the point of interest or press the "On Map" button to show the points of interest onthe map.

    Around AddressPressing the'Around Address" icon allows you to enter a city and state in which to search points ofinterest. Enter the city and state as described in'Address" on page 11.Select your desired category. A list of results matching your category, including their address, willappear, arranged in alphabetical order. Proceed as described in "Near Current Position" on page 14.

    POI Search by PhonePressing the "POl Search by Phone" icon allows you to enter a city and state in which to search pointsof interest by complete or partial phone number. Enter the city and state as described in'Address" onpage 1 1 . Then, enter a phone number or several numbers to search by. A list of results matching thenumbers entered, including their phone number, will appear. Proceed as described in "Near CurrentPosition" on page 14.

    Address BookPress the'Address Book" icon to display a list of saved addresses. Selecting the desired address takesyou to the "Route Plan" screen, with the selected address as your destination.

    Recent DestinationsPress the "Recent Destinations" icon to display a list of destinations recently entered. Selecting thedesired destination takes you to the "Route Plan" screen, with the selected location as your end point.

    Point on MapPress the "Point on Map" icon to display the "Point on Map" screen. In this screen, you can press onstreets or on point of interest icons to highlight and display information about the item. Press the "OK"button to select the item and enter the "Route Plan" screen, with the selected location as yourdestination.

    lf there is more than one point of interest in the location highlighted, you can press the right and leftarrow buttons at the bottom of the screen to display the other points of interest'

    CoordinatesPress the "Coordinates" icon to display the "Coordinates" screen.Here, you can enter the coordinates of your desired destination. Press the "Format" button to switchbetween degree and digital format. Degree format requires cardinal directions (E or W, N or S) to beentered, and digitat format requires that at least one value (longitude or latitude) have a "-" before it'Press "OK" to take you to the "Route Plan" screen, with the selected location as your destination.

    Go HomePress the "Home" icon to take you to the "Route Plan" screen, with your home address as yourdestination. lf you have not entered your desired home address, follow the on-screen directions to setup your home address.

  • Navigating

    Route PIanFrom the "Route Plan" screen, you have several options.

    o Press the'Add" or "Delete" bar to add waypoints to or remove waypoints from your route.You canadd up to two waypoints to your route.

    . Press the up and down arrow buttons to change the order of your route.

    . Press the "On Map" button to view the highlighted location on a map.

    . Press the "Simulate" button to simulate the route you will take.

    . Press the "Options" button to enter the "Route Options" screen.

    From the "Route Options" screen, press the bars to choose:-

    Maximize vs. minimize Use of Highway-

    Maximize vs. minimize Use of Ferries-

    Avoid vs. Allow Toll Roads-

    Shortest Route vs. Quickest Route-

    Allow vs. avoid Car PoolPress "OK" to save settings and take you to the "Route Plan" screen.

  • Route lnformationThe "Route Information" screen provides you with details about your route including starting point,destination point, distance, and all turns and roads you will take (including distance between turns).Use the small arrow buttons to scroll through waypoints, if applicable, and use the large arrow buttonsto scroll through the route to your destination.

    Map OptionsThe "Map Options" icon will take you to the "Map Options" screen. See "Map Options" on page 19.

    SettingsThe "Settings" icon will take you to the "Settings" screen. See "Settings" on page 20.

    Go toPress the "Go to" icon to add a waypoint(s) to your route. This will take you to the "Search Menu". See"Go to" on page 11.

    Map OptionsPress the "Map Options" icon to access the "Map Options" menu.

    From this menu, you can choose:. North Up vs. Heading Up screen rotation

    NOTE: North Up is only available when 2D is selected.. Birds-eye vs.2D style maps. Day vs. Night mode. Highway SignPost on/off. Voice Guidance at each turn on/off. Auto Zoom onlott

    -When on, the unit automatically adjusts map view to speed.. Simulation Speed

    - Choose between 35

    - 210 mph or km/h, in increments of 35, using the

    right and left arrow buttons.

    SettingsPress the "settings" icon to access the "Settings" menu.

    Languagepressing the "Language" icon allows you to choose the language of the text in the Navigation screensand the language spoken during navigation. Press the "OK" button to confirm.

    AboutTo access the "About" icon, press the right arrow button in the main "Settings" menu. The "About"screen provides information about the unit.

    Trace RecordThe "Trace Record" function allows you to record and trace your routes on a map. The "Trace Record'screen shows a list of all traced routes. To enable tracing, "Record On" must selected' Pressing"show" with a route highlighted will allow you to view that route. You can also delete routes from thisscreen.

  • Day/Night ModeThis screen allows you to choose between automatic and manual setting of "Day/Night" mode,

    The map will have different color schemes in these two modes.

    Day Night

    With "Manually" highlighted, you can switch between "Night" and "Day" modes by pressing the arrowbuttons. With "Automatic" highlighted, you can set the time period during which "Day" mode willoperate. Set the start and end times using the arrows, and press "OK."

    Set Home AddressPress this icon to enter the "Search Menu". From there, choose one of the icons to enter or find thelocation you want to set as your home address. See "Go to" on page 1 '1.

    GPS StatusThis icon allows you to view information about the unit, including whether the unit is active (fixedposition) or inactive (no fixed position), the date/time, vehicle speed, altitude, HDOB the number andposition of satellites ihe unit detects, and the current latitude and longitude.You can also access thisscreen by pressing the satellite dish icon when in the "Navi Map" or "Route Navi Map" screens.

    Miles/KilometresPress the "Mile" icon to change the speed display to kilometres per hour (km/h). Press the "Kilometre'icon to switch back to miles per hour (mph).VolumeThe speaker volume cannot be accessed in the "settings" menu; you must press the speaker iconfrom fhe "Navi Map" or "Route Navi Map" screen. From the "Volume" screen, use the Plus (+)and Minus (-) buttons to adjust the speaker volume, or press the speaker icon to alternate betweenmute and sound.

    EbookFrom the "Main Menu", the "Ebook" function allows you to view and read text files (TXT format) from amicro SD card.

    Insert your memory card into the micro SD card slot.From the "Main Menu", press the "Ebook" icon.

    This screen allows you to select how the unit connects to the PC, using MS Activesync or acting as MassStorage. lt is not recommended to alter the data stored in the internal memory. lt may damage the mapdata and render the unit non-functional.

    To add or upgrade the map, go to www.peakauto.com/gps:1. Select and download the maps to a PC.2. Copy the map to a micro SD card (2GB or larger depending on the map).3. Insefi the micro SD card with the new map in the card slot.4. You will receive an Activation Code by email; enter this Activation Code when you use this new

    map for the.first time to activate it.

    CalibrationThis screen allows you to recalibrate the touch screen.

    With the stylus, firmly tap the center of the crosslines. The crosslines will move around the screen;continue piessing the center of the crosslines. The screen will close automatically when the touchscreen is calibrated.

  • Disposal

    StorageStore this GPS in a cool, dry area and keep it away from direct sunlight, heat, excessive humidity anddampness.

    CleaningDo not clean or wipe the GPS with solvents or chemical materials. lf necessary, remove dirt or stainsusing a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution.

    Fuse Replacement1. Turn the cap on the tip of the power plug counterclockwise (no tools needed).2. Remove the cap, center pin and fuse.3. Replace the fuse with a new 2-amp fuse.4. Replace the center pin and cap. Turn the cap clockwise.

    The GPS is designed to provide years of service. The GPS should be recycled or safelydisposed of at a local recycling center. Examples of places that will accept items like thisare:county or municipal recycling drop-off centers or scrap metal dealers.
