Relaxation Technique of the Week: When relaxed, it's normal to take long, deep breaths. However when stressed, breathing can become rapid and shallow. Deep breathing can help calm you down. Practicing deep breathing will make your body better prepared to handle stress. Breathe in slowly. Count in your head and make sure the inward breath lasts at least 5 seconds. Pay attention to the feeling of the air filling your lungs. Hold your breath for 5 to 10 seconds (again, keep count). You don’t want to feel uncomfortable, but it should last quite a bit longer than an ordinary breath. Breath out very slowly for 5 to 10 seconds (count!). Pretend like you’re breathing through a straw to slow yourself down.Try using a real straw to practice. Repeat the breathing process until you feel calm. Early College (EC): ● Students who are currently taking EC courses : Please make sure you’re checking your

@hawaii.edu email. Instructors have been emailing for the past 2 weeks. Please make sure you contact your instructors if you have any questions or concerns with the course. If you can't keep up with the workload and video chats, you may need to withdraw from the course. Last day to withdraw has been extended until April 30th for both campuses.

*See each teacher’s Google classroom for class-specific practice sentences and instructions *level 3 & 4 work is on Google classroom JP 1 : Translate into Japanese (strongly encouraged to write in hiragana. underlined words in katakana ). Write sentences on any paper (write your name too), take photo and submit via Google classroom (OR Remind text) Look-Sensei's class: See google classroom for vocabulary list. Write on folder paper but no need to take photo. Turn in the folder paper(s) when we return to school.

I went to movie theater (e i ga ka n) last week Saturday. 6. This book is long. And (it) is boring. 7. Tarou’s uncle’s dog is not scary. 8. My grandpa returned home (i e) 5 o’clock yesterday. 9. Dog (i nu) met cute cat (ne ko) at school. 10. Yesterday, I ate delicious pasta (pa su ta). And drank hot soup (su-pu).

*basic sentence format for i-adj +verb sentence: (subject) WA, ( i-adj ) (object) wo (verb). (i.e.) Tarou WA, oishii musubi wo tabemasu. (Tarou eats delicious musubi) You can add day, time, place etc. like usual verb sentences. (i.e.) Tarou WA, senshuu suiyoubi gakkou de oishii musubi wo tabemashita. (Last Wednesday, Tarou ate delicious musubi at school) Place i-adj in front of the noun you want to modify/describe. (i.e.) difficult homework → muzukashii shikudai, hot tea → atsui ocha, big dog → ookii inu If you have pointer (ko so a do) word, the order is pointer → i-adj → noun (i.e.) ano kowai inu (that scary dog over there)

JP 2 Review Sentences #1 Translate the sentences using hiragana/katakana on folder paper. All the work will be collected when we return to school.

1. There is a nuisance child in the bathroom. 2. There is a family at the quiet hospital. 3. There is a pretty woman in the subway. 4. There are no chairs in the Spanish classroom. 5.
