NON-DESTRUCTIVE TEST TRAINING The introductory program focuses on three NDT methods: liquid penetrant, radiography and magnetic particle inspection. Students will also learn the basics of materials and process associated with NDT technology. The advanced certificate builds on material from the introductory program with the ultrasonic, eddy current and visual inspection NDT methods. The technical certificate program adds hands-on experience in both conventional and composite aerospace assembly methods which will allow students to apply NDT techniques to the aviation industry. The National Center for Aviation Training was built by Sedgwick County to meet the aviation manufacturing workforce demand. This world-class training facility provides students the opportunity to receive hands-on, real-world training in the areas of general aviation manufacturing and aircraft and power plant mechanics. Wichita Area Technical College serves as the managing partner for the Center, partnering with Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research, to providen industry-driven training courses. The Nondestructive Testing program, offered by Wichita’s National Center for Aviation Training, is a cooperative effort between NIAR and the Wichita Area Technical College (WATC) to supply the aviation industry with technicians who understand the role of nondestructive testing (NDT) and have mastered coursework from the American Society for Nondestructive Testing Level I and II certification.
