ü This collection is the unduplicated number of children with disabilities who are ages 6 through 21 and have a valid individualized education program (IEP) as of December 1 of the current school year.
ü The data collected are required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 618.
ü The data is also used for monitoring the programs and activities under IDEA, the non-fiscal survey of the common core of data (LEA level), and by the Office for Civil Rights (School level).

PurposeC6 PVAAS 2017-18
Reporting this data set is the responsibility of the employing LEA. This is because the result, a PVAAS teacher-specific measure, is part of the Educator Effectiveness System for teaching professionals and evaluations are an employer’s responsibility.
LEAs must report all instructional relationships related to PSSAs in grades 4-8 and Keystone Exams for a professional or temporary professional employee who provides direct instruction to students related to a specific subject or grade level.
Instructional relationships are comprised of three basic parts:
ü Staff – Teaching professionals with instructional responsibility in a state assessed subject/grade/Keystone Exam content area.
ü Students – Students for which a teacher has instructional responsibility in a state assessed subject/grade/Keystone Exam content area.
ü Subtests with percentages – The percent of instructional responsibility a teacher has for an individual student in a state assessed subject/grade/Keystone Exam content area.
