    APPLICATION

    Pulsed Contact Closure(Formerly F1 Option)

    Pulsed Contact Closure provides a fixed-widthcorrection pulse (0.1 to 1.0 second setting). The pulses aresent more often at higher slip frequencies, and less often asthe slip is decreased (one pulse per slip cycle). The F5module can now be configured to perform pulsed contactclosure by setting the pulse width to the desired value andthe pulse interval to 0. Note that the F5 implementation ofpulsed contact closure provides one pulse per slip cycle, butnot pulses at a specific phase angle difference (180 degrees).Corrections will still be provided until the measured slip is1/2 the maximum acceptable slip frequency.

    Continuous Correction(Formerly F3 Option)

    A continuous closed contact signal is providedwhenever slip frequency is outside the acceptable slipwindow. This functionality is achieved with the F5module by setting both the pulse width and the pulseinterval to 0. Note that this configuration will onlyprovide corrections until the measured slip is less thanthe slip setting (not to 1/2 slip setting).

    These modifications to the F5 module broaden the BE1-25A's functionality and simplify thespecification process. As a result of this improvement, F1 and F3 modules are no longer provided fornew units purchased after 1/1/98. BE1-25A Automatic Synchronizers are available configured eitherwith (F5), or without (F0) frequency matching.

    Recent modifications to the BE1-25A sync module enable the F5 Frequency Matching Option to beprogrammed to operate equivalent to either of the previous F1 or F3 versions. This allows us to provide a singlefrequency module which meets all customers' needs.
