What  is  CHARMS  and  How  Does  It  Work?

CHARMS is primarily a database software program that was designed for use by school music programs to manage student and band parent information. This includes everything from calendars, contact information, classroom assignments, attendance, volunteering opportunities and financial records. CHARMS is used by the PBPA Secretaries to send emails to the band community and smaller sections, such as just marching, or just senior parents. Although Pope Band is new to all that CHARMS offers we are finding it a very valuable tool and vital to improving communications with our band community.

One of the key functions that CHARMS offers you is the opportunity to go into your student’s profile and edit your contact information. If an email address changes or phone number is added to the family plan, just log into your student’s profile and make the necessary changes. Not receiving the emails? Maybe there was an entry error. Log in and double check, no sending an email requesting your information be updated and waiting on it to happen. You are in control and responsible for keeping your information up to date. PBPA selects the segment to email and hits send.

You should already have received the password to your student profile in CHARMS. If you have not received your password, contact PBPA Secretary, Debbie Gaynor at [email protected] and she’ll help you get squared away. We are very excited about all that we have already been able to do with CHARMS and look forward to discovering more ways to streamline our ability to bring organization and information to the band community.

Bits  n  Pieces…  • Did you know that there is a POPE Band App?? It’s

available in iphone, droid and html format. Just go to the app store for your phone and download. It’s Free!

• Keep an eye out for announcements regarding

upcoming fall fundraisers: Apple and Pine Straw Sales.

How to Use a Student Check First off, what is a “Student Check? A student check is what is used when you have funds in your student account and want to use them to pay for a band activity or items associated with a band activity like: travel fees, concert dresses, marching gloves, district and all-state fees, etc. Anything that is not associated with a fundraiser like apple or DVD sales.

To download the “Student Check” form go to: popeband.com > Forms & Handouts > click the first button in the third column.

Once you have filled the form out, attach it to the appropriate order form (like Quiznos form) enclose in an envelope and deposit in the white lock box in the band room.
