• At First Ward our PBIS program is only as effective as the stakeholders (Administrators, teachers, support staff scholars and parents) allow it to be.

• Our goal at First Ward is to create a risk free learning environment where scholars can SOAR to new levels

SOAR

• Safe• Orderly• Act• Respectful and Responsible• At First Ward, our scholars follow this motto each and

every day. Scholars seen making good choices are given a SOAR ticket. The bottom of the SOAR ticket is placed in a box for a drawing at the end of each week. One scholar from K-2 and one from 3-5 will have their name announced on the morning news and receive a prize.

Scholars at First Ward SOAR in the hallways :

• I will be safe at all times by walking silently in the hallway

• I will be safe at all times by staying in line and walking on the right side of the hallway

• I will be safe at all times by making sure I have a hall pass when traveling alone

Scholars at First Ward SOAR in the cafeteria:

• I will be safe in the cafeteria by walking in silently and proceeding to my designated lunch line

• I will be safe in the cafeteria by remaining silent for the first 10 minutes or until the RED cup is changed to YELLOW

• I will be safe in the cafeteria by disposing of my trash in the appropriate barrels

• I will be safe on the playground by staying only in the designated play area

• I will be safe on the playground by knowing where my teacher is

• I will be safe on the playground by using the equipment correctly

• I will be safe in the classroom by keeping my hands and feet to myself

• I will be safe in the classroom by listening to the teacher

• I will be safe in the classroom by following our class rules

• I will be safe on the bus by keeping my hands and feet to myself

• I will be safe on the bus by staying seated at all times

• I will be safe on the bus by always following the bus drivers instructions

• I will act orderly in the hallway by keeping my hands and feet to myself at all times

• I will act orderly in the hallway by remaining in a single file line

• I will act orderly in the hallway by walking either by myself with a hall pass or silently in a line

• I will act respectful and responsible on the bus by remaining in my seat at all times

• I will act respectful and responsible on the bus by listening to the bus driver

Teacher Responsibility

• Teachers are responsible to teach scholars the rules and expectations and then model them on a daily basis.

• Teachers, Administrators and Support staff are responsible to ensure all PBIS policies are clearly posted in all areas in the school

• Teachers, Administrators and Support staff are responsible to maintain a structured, consistent, risk free environment so all scholars can SOAR!
