Hi!

I’m Paula Ramiro, an amateur space designer

based in Barcelona.

Currently finishing my Degree in Design in Elisava, I

have have also studied at the Massana Arts School.

I love to do ephimeral, retail, and domestic space

design but I’m also interested in arts, graphics and

art direction.

Hope you like what you’ll see!I believe in the effort to do things properly, with commitment and

affection.

I believe in madness and art, but not in coincidende or serendipity.

I believe in honesty and the importance of the individual.

I don’t believe in selling smoke and mirrors.

And I strongly rely on everything’s backstory, and that it’s not about doing foam board constructions beautifully painted.

Some of my projects . . .

Sawing wood, cut, pierce the metal sheet, put on a

strap,... and have in your hands a pinhole camera.

The following images were captured using a

self-made pinhole camera. The negatives of the

captured images were then developed in the

darkroom.

One of the images was chosen given its special

interest with the wag that was applied to the

camera during the exposition time.

Our world. What is it made from?

We picture it as a big blue ball with little individuals

that blend and puddle among themselves. But

where do they feel safe? Home.

We wanted to experiment with the idea of giving

the public space that home feeling.

We took some surveys and asked those little

individuals and what they told us is that how

they felt more comfortable was inside their bed

or sitting on their couch, holding a cup of coffee

and taking a long and revitalizing sip, or eating

something sweet.

Suddenly we thought about the new trend that

from some time now we’ve been seeing that it’s

revolutionized the internet. Mugcakes.

And what are those mugcakes made from? Where

does their flour come from?

Cereal grains or seeds grinded result in flour, a

powder which is the main ingredient for many

receipts like bread, or cakes. Which is called sèmol

in catalan.

Then those grains are blended inside a mugcake,

doesn’t it remind you of the gigantic blue ball?

«The Magic Carpet: Repetitive Graphic Patterns

in Public Spaces» is a workshop that we carried

out within the framework of the 15th edition of

the Creative Marathon of ELISAVA, directed by

Jurjen Zeinstra and with the collaboration of Enrico

Forestieri (a teacher of the Politecnico di Milano)

and the Interface company.

We researched how we could design and create a

‘pop-up’ carpet that would appear (and disappear)

in a number of public spaces. After studying

repetitive patterns on tiles and Arabic tiles, we

experimented with a contemporary approach

to this subject that is related to graphic design,

interior architecture and public art.

Inside the space of el Convent dels Àngels

(MACBA) it is proposed an ephimeral exhibition,

from its curation and chosing the art pieces to the

concept and spatial design

The exhibition is the reflect of what inhabits us

everyday, our deepest instincts, because despite

our abstract emotions they are our essence.

Aetheria Uteri is a selection of different feminine

contemporary artists that want to explore the

artist-visitor relation, the mind possibilities of the

mind in the emotion field. They are artists that seek

to grope feminity and their associated emotions.

This lightning bench was the result of an

experiment with light and the additive pigments

red green and blue.

We wanted to create an evolving structure that

changed its intention and message along the sun

cycle.

Based on the premise from William Shakespeare

“Everything depends on the eye of the beholder”

(“Todo depende del color del cristal con que se

mira”).

Also in honor of a stained glass course I took some

years ago at Escola Massana and the teacher I had,

I made a big square sculpture with different color

ranges in each side which blend among themselves

in their projections.

It is thought as a sculpture that you can move

inside and notice the world around you with

different refinements.

Making honor to the historic neighbours at la

Barceloneta that had to give away their beach to

tourists, we wanted them to reclaim it again with

this concept space for them.

With historic materials as their fishers rope and

plastic from the “Sea chair (link)”, and new and

resistant ones as smooth cement for all its facings.

An space about sensations. About sharing a single

central table (also used as a sink) and sitting

however you want with the plastic folding stools.

And a tied exterior space where you can relax

and feel the texture and freshness of some white

dancing fabrics.

What would happen if we mixed the fastfood

concept with COS and Bob Wilson?

This is the interactual moodboard of the brand

concept for «Purist Snabbamat», a healthy fastfood

with purists reminiscences.

The three basic colors with a desaturation take

over it, a textured white color, a thin black line, and

plywood rounded corners.

The publishing hous Gustavo Gili asked us to

develop a flagship store proposal to promote their

brand and secure them as a benchmark in their

sector.

We start from Steve Job’s quote “I want to put

a dent in the universe” from where we thought

over and given the creative target that we had,

everyone has the need to be remembered and

leave their mark.

The intention is to show the duality that they

talked us about when describing their brand

«modern tradition», at the same time as a huge

prominence from their book covers in the space.

A spot in the city that serves as a benchmark

to know all about the new trends growning in

Barcelona, a spot to talk around a coffee and

enlarge your knowlede about visual culture.
