"Going to the flea-market often, I was very annoyed that people liked these kitschy cats, dogs, mice, birds and other terrible ceramics.”They are so sweet, funny and lovely." Later, I was presented on my birthday with a hot-glue pistol; I decided to smash this industrial, machine-made, overproduced kitsch aesthetic and put the pieces together in a new way, creating a unique, manmade sculpture. The first creations were small, associative, in a more abstract fashion. The first life size figure was initiated as I used a found metal plate with two bars welded as a base. The pose was inspired from the David of Michelangelo. All male figures are called David to remember the beginning.”
