Many of the opportunities we provide our students at PLPS

could not go ahead without the wonderful help from parents.

We often require parent helpers for school sporting events,

excursions, fundraising events and classroom programs. If

you wish to help out at PLPS you will be required to register

your Working with Children Check (WWCC) at the School

Office.

Please note there are no fees for a Volunteer WWCC.

Family School Accounts

For those families on a Payment Plan, 3rd and

July 2018.

Family statements were sent home in the last

week of last term. If you did not receive your

family statement, please contact the office.

Pantry 5000 Winter Appeal

As part of a Junior School Council initiative for Homelessness

Week (August 6th to 10th), we are asking families to donate

non-perishable items to the office to support people struggling

in our local area. Pantry 5000 provides emergency and

ongoing food relief for people in the Southern Kingston and

Northern Frankston municipalities.

All of our goods will then be transported along with those from

other schools to the offices of our local MP, Sonya

Kilkenny, who has been a driver in getting our kids

School Fundraising – Fete News!

Help Needed:

The following stalls still need a fete convener: 0A, 2D, 3B, 3C, 3D, 4A, 4B, 4C, 5B, 5C,

6A, 6D. The role of the Fete convener is to arrange a roster for the stall for the day. We

provide a template. Conveners do not have to be linked to your child’s grade. If anyone is

able to help out please contact Michael Wilkinson from the FFFA as soon as possible on

0403 593 772 or via email [email protected]

Any parents who would like to contribute in any other capacity, such as pre-fete

organisation, donations for the silent auction or raffle, are encouraged to contact Michael

as well.

We also have an odd request for any parents who may have contacts with a supplier in the

building industry. We will for the first time have a Toilet Paper Toss stall, which is sure to be

a lot of fun for the students. However we are in need of a new toilet which could be loaned

to us for the day. Anyone who is able to assist should please call Michael Wilkinson on the

number above as soon as possible.

Donations:

We will officially begin collecting donations of items for the Fete on Monday 13th of August.

Items we are collecting include:

Chocolate blocks, soft drink cans, soft drink bottles

(1.25l), tomato and BBQ sauces, mustard, serviettes

and non perishable grocery items.

These will be collected from classes every week and a tally kept. The class with the most

donations will win a Hot Chip Lunch!

We are looking forward to a fantastic day for the school and community! Thank you for your

continued support!

26th July, 2018

Dear Parents/Carers,

The date set for our schools’ second working bee this year is for Sunday, 5th August, 2018.

The final Working Bee date for 2018 is: Sunday, 18th November.

We are looking forward to having as many families involved as possible to help with a tidy up of the school.

The working bee will commence at 10:30am and conclude with a sausage sizzle at 12:30pm. The school will provide sausages, soft drinks and water at no cost to helpers. We will be meeting at the undercover area outside the Staff & Science Rooms.

The Buildings and Grounds committee have identified a number of items that need attention around the school that we are hoping to achieve. These include:

Weeding of garden beds and around the edges of paths and buildings.

Trimming back of trees overhanging paths & seating areas.

Cleaning of drainage pits.

Redistribution of softfall (mulch) in the adventure playgrounds.

Sweeping dust & cobwebs from portable classroom walls & walkways.

Pressure cleaning of the outside walls & steps of some portable classrooms (Rooms 1-11)

To complete the tasks we are hoping that families may be able to supply some tools, i.e. pruning shears, bow saws, secateurs, yard brooms, rakes, spades/shovels, wheelbarrows, pressure cleaners.

If you are able to assist with the working bee, even for a small amount of time, could you please indicate on the re-turn slip below or email me at [email protected] by Friday, 3rd August, 2018.

Regards,

Paul Clohesy

Assistant Principal (on behalf of the Buildings & Grounds Committee)
