Fact Spotlight:• Apply for a paid one-year work

placement as part of your MBA studies

• Join the MBA direct from your undergraduate degree – no work experience is required

• Gain prestigious CIM and CMI qualifications while studying for your MBA

Focus on MBA with optional work placement module

An MBA is recognised throughout the world for providing ambitious and motivated graduates with the skills necessary to succeed in life.

At the University of Northampton it gets even better because MBA students have the option to apply for a paid work placement as part of their studies, spending up to one year in an industry position. This work placement, which is included in your study visa, will give you the vital skills, experience and contacts required to forge a highly successful career.

You do not need any work experience to apply for the MBA and, as a graduate of this highly respected programme, you will join a community of influential tutors, business professionals and MBA alumni that spans the globe.

The placement option is available on the MBA programme for full-time, on campus students only. A placement should last between six and 12 months, must be appropriate to the level of study and must be paid.

Students will be supported in finding and securing a placement opportunity, but it must be noted that placements are competitive and there is no guarantee of a placement offer being made by an employer. During a work placement, students attend two full day workshops held at the University and will undertake a research project based on the organisation in which they are working.

Students who are unsuccessful in securing a placement within the first nine months of their programme will automatically be transferred to the University’s business research project module to gain the

required credits to complete the MBA. This will be taught in three full day intensive workshops and supported with one–to–one supervision. Students will have approximately three months to work on their project and will complete their MBA programme within 12 months.

Pre-sessional English courses

If you do not meet the English requirements for your chosen course, it may be possible to study Pre–sessional English at the University of Northampton. Upon successful completion of your Pre–sessional English you will then join your chosen academic course at UNIC.

The programme is designed to help you develop your competence and confidence as users of English in an academic setting. In addition, you will become familiar with

the culture of UK Higher Education and will be equipped with the tools to help you succeed in your undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

Successful completion of the programme will demonstrate that you have satisfied UNIC and the University’s English Language requirements in order to be successful on your chosen course.

You will need a UKVI approved IELTS to apply for the Pre–sessional English and must also hold a UNIC conditional offer letter. Full details of dates, course lengths and fees can be found on the UNIC website under courses.

Jefferson Moses, Cameroon BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Private accommodation Although we encourage our students to choose UNIC recommended accommodation, we understand that not everyone wants to live in a student residence, therefore we also provide students with information that will help them research their options. Whilst there are no purpose built student managed residences, Northampton has many letting agents specialising in student accommodation.

The University of Northampton Accommodation Team provides a service to assist you in finding your house or flat. Please go to northamptonstudentpad.co.uk/accommodation

Although steps are taken to ensure that the accommodation advertised is safe, the rooms and self-contained houses/flats are not inspected. You are strongly advised to ensure that the accommodation and the terms offered by landlords meet your needs before entering into a tenancy agreement.

More information and guidance can be found on the UNIC website where you can also download our Accommodation Guide.

Under 18sFor those students joining UNIC who are under 18 years of age, the accommodation option is to live with a family member already known to them or a host family.
