extension of splayed walls creates structure for music studio and performance stage. outdoor sitting area is defi ned between retreat and studio.

horizontal planes dictate hierarchy as well as public spaces inside. a long singular unbroken plane shelters private areas. classrooms, library, cafe, and lecture hall extend towards the road. offi ces, conference rooms, and loading dock look over a creek on the back side. the main gallery, used for various functions, is topped by the student lounge allowing views of campus and beyond.

expressionism drove both design and attitude towards this project. material palette was selected in response to permeability. gabion walls, wooden slat walls, and translucent fabric roofs allow elements of water and light through while acting as a boundary for occupants.
