What is ―Find it Here‖?

―Find it Here‖ is a campaign to deliver the Gospel to 1.5 million in households

across Kentucky during March 6-21, 2010.

―Find it Here‖ is part of a Kentucky Baptist Convention, North American

Mission Board and local association evangelism initiative with the ultimate

goal of Every Person Sharing and Every Person Hearing by the year 2020.

The ultimate goal (Every Person Sharing and Every Person Hearing by 2020)

will be accomplished by practicing four spiritual disciplines or mileposts

(GPS: God‘s Plan for Sharing):

Praying: Every church praying for lost people

Engaging: Every believer sharing as a trained witness

Sowing: Every lost person receiving a witness

Harvesting: Every church harvesting and celebrating every

salvation experience

Sowing will be the emphasis for 2010. Sowing is the focal point of ―Find it

Here.‖

―Find it Here‖ will consist of five major activities. The major activities are:

1. Prayerwalk every street and road in Kentucky (September and October

2009)

2. Distribute house-to-house a bag with a Gospel presentation (March 6-

21, 2010)

3. Harvest Sunday Easter Celebration on Easter Sunday, April 4

4. Follow-up of those that return the postage paid response cards

5. High Attendance Day in Sunday School on April 18, 2010

There will be a national, Kentucky-wide and local media ―Find it Here‖ campaign

that will correspond to the March 6-21, 2010 sowing process.

―Find it Here‖ will consist of six major components:

Preparation: (now—March 2010) Developing strategy and plans and

preparing the church members. During this phase, there will be an emphasis on

equipping believers to witness and to pray. The emphasis for the church will be

to prepare for the possible actions:

a. Awareness [―Find it Here‖ will be included in the 2009 State WMU

Missions materials. This will be a great opportunity to make your

congregation aware of ―Find it Here‖].

b. Witness training

c. Prayer training

d. Assimilation training

e. Small group training

f. Compassionate ministries

Prayerwalking: (September/October 2009) The challenge during this phase is

for each association to divide its association into segments and enlist churches to

prayerwalk these areas (every street and every road) prior to the sowing process.

Possible actions:

a. Churches will discover prayerwalking assignments

b. Prayerwalk training

c. Coordination with WMU. Kentucky WMU is including ―Find it

Here‖ prayerwalking materials on the 2009 State Missions DVD.

You can utilize this material for training people in your church.

d. Recruitment of church member teams and assignment of

streets/roads

Sowing/Gospel Distribution: March 6—March 21, 2010

Possible actions:

a. Each church will be assigned an area.

b. Determination of number of households in assigned area

c. Assist association in cost of the materials

d. Discover obstacles to distribution, such as:

closed areas

safety factors

preparation of church brochure

e. Develop strategies to overcome obstacles

Page 6: Pastor/Church Preparation Guideweb.kybaptist.org/web/doc/fih-prepguide.pdf1 Pastor/Church Preparation Guide 2010 Kentucky Baptist Sowing Plan ―Day after day, in the temple courts

6

Harvest: April 4, 2010

Easter Sunday, April 4 will serve as focal point of the Harvest.

Possible actions:

a. Follow-up on known respondents inviting them to Easter service

b. Sermon that has been prepared for the understanding of new

believers and those not yet saved who may visit and that calls forth

the new believers

c. Counselor preparation

d. New member packets prepared

e. Expectation of additional harvest in the weeks to come

f. Preparation for assimilation of new members

g. Prepare church building and facilities and grounds

Follow-up: (March 2010 forward) Prospects will be discovered. Follow-up

will be critical.

Possible Actions:

a. Follow-up on respondents inviting them to Easter service

b. Prepare follow-up cards and e-mails

c. Assign prospects for visitation

d. Prepare for five week Bible study plans

e. Easter Sunday baptism celebration

Media Campaign: March 6—April 4, 2010

Statewide and local. ―Find it Here‖ Media Blitz. NAMB will cover the

nation, the KBC will utilize large Kentucky markets, and the local

associations and churches will initiate and purchase local media options.

NAMB will provide TV and radio commercials and other media helps.

TV and radio commercials and other reproducible media helps will be

provided to all KBC churches free.

Prayerwalking

1. Enlist a prayerwalking coordinator for your church. Seek someone who will help

coordinate and organize this effort.

2. Work with the association to determine area assigned to the church for

prayerwalking.

Page 7: Pastor/Church Preparation Guideweb.kybaptist.org/web/doc/fih-prepguide.pdf1 Pastor/Church Preparation Guide 2010 Kentucky Baptist Sowing Plan ―Day after day, in the temple courts

7

3. Enlist enough prayerwalkers within your church to be able to cover every street

and road in your church‘s assigned area. Encourage members of all ages and

stages of life to participate.

4. Organize prayerwalkers into groups. Keep the groups small, between 3 and 5

people, and assign them specific streets or roads to cover.

5. Offer resources and training that will prepare people to prayerwalk. (See list of

resources available).

6. Determine dates during September and October to prayerwalk your church‘s

zone. Several days could be planned in case of inclement weather.

Church’s Preparation for Gospel Distribution

1. Each association, working with its leadership will determine the zones assigned

to each church. It is imperative that every street and road is included in some

church‘s zone but that there is no overlap.

2. After a church receives its zone, a windshield count of all homes in the zone

should be made. The association will be responsible for ordering sufficient bags

and brochures to cover the association‘s area. It is very important that each

church determine the exact number of bags and brochures needed to cover their

assigned areas.

3. Delivery teams need to be recruited. All ages can be recruited. Be sure that each

team has at least two members and if possible two different teams working

across the street from each other whenever possible. Leave the bag on the door

and not the mailbox.

4. Each team member should wear a name tag with the church‘s name on tag.

5. Each team should be given a map and clear orientation of area they should cover.

6. Make deliveries between March 6 and March 21, 2010. Pray as you make each

delivery.

Gospel Presentation Brochure Card and Bag Preparation

1. Each church will need to determine the number of bags and Gospel presentation

brochures that they will need in order to leave one bag at each house in their

assigned area.

Page 8: Pastor/Church Preparation Guideweb.kybaptist.org/web/doc/fih-prepguide.pdf1 Pastor/Church Preparation Guide 2010 Kentucky Baptist Sowing Plan ―Day after day, in the temple courts

8

2. Return address will need to be added to each card. It is suggested that each

church prepare a return address label with the church‘s name and address and the

association‘s ACP number.

Affix label to

Association‘s ACP #

3. Place prepared brochure in bag. It is also possible to put a church brochure in

the bag with an invitation to visit the church on Easter Sunday. However, it is

important to keep the bag uncluttered. It is extremely important that the focus

is on the Gospel presentation.

ENGAGING: Compassion Ministries/Servant Evangelism

Although compassion ministries/servant evangelism are not a focus of the ―Find it Here‖

process, these activities can have a great impact on the effectiveness of the outreach.

Churches should consider doing two or three compassion ministries/servant evangelism

projects during the year. Each time, make an effort to connect the ―Find it Here‖ logo to

the activity.

MEDIA

The North America Mission Board has prepared both a TV and radio campaign

around the ―Find it Here‖ theme. NAMB and KBC will provide TV and radio

coverage across the state during the period of the Gospel distribution. Coverage

will also extend into Kentucky from TV markets in bordering states.

Churches are also encouraged to develop a media campaign in their local area:

– The NAMB-produced broadcast-quality radio and TV commercials are

available for download at onemission.tv in the GPS (God's Plan for

Sharing) section or can be requested through the Kentucky Baptist

Convention Communications Department.

– Assistance in placing advertising or getting the appropriate creative

material (TV or radio spots, newspaper ads, billboard artwork, etc.) to

media is available through the KBC Communications Department.

―Find it Here‖ Launch News Release

Feb. 26, 2009

‗Find it Here‘ Set to Reach Every Kentucky Household

LOUISVILLE - Kentucky Baptists are preparing to reach every household in the state

with a Gospel message and special invitation to attend church by Easter Sunday 2010.

Ross Bauscher, evangelism growth team leader for the Kentucky Baptist Convention,

told participants attending the state evangelism conference on Feb. 24, that a

combination of hand delivery to 1.5 million households of a special brochure and the

Kentucky portion of a $1.2 million national media campaign would be used to blanket

the state during the three weeks leading up to Easter Sunday 2010.

―This is going to be the largest evangelism emphasis that the Southern Baptist

Convention has ever done,‖ Bauscher said about the national evangelism initiative in

which Kentucky will participate.

The campaign is being called ―Find it Here,‖ which is the tagline to be used in media

advertising geared to reach people who do not presently attend church. It is part of the

GPS (God‘s Plan for Sharing) initiative of the North American Mission Board aimed at

fulfilling the Great Commission in North America by 2020.

Bauscher said there would be three main components to the campaign: prayerwalking

the state in the fall of 2009; the Gospel distribution to 1.5 million households; and the

national media campaign.

He said convention officials are estimating that 50,000 volunteers will be needed to

hand-deliver the ―Find it Here‖ message which will consist of a plastic bag with a

special ―Find it Here‖ brochure that can be hung on a doorknob. The brochure will

contain a simple Gospel presentation and an invitation to attend a Kentucky Baptist

church at Easter (April 4, 2010).

Bauscher said that while numbers like ―1.5 million households‖ and ―50,000

volunteers‖ sound intimidating at first, the process of mobilizing for the task is

relatively simple.

―Essentially we are working very closely with our associations and churches to make

this happen,‖ Bauscher said. ―In each association, either the director of missions or the

moderator is working with each church that wishes to participate to divide up the

Page 25: Pastor/Church Preparation Guideweb.kybaptist.org/web/doc/fih-prepguide.pdf1 Pastor/Church Preparation Guide 2010 Kentucky Baptist Sowing Plan ―Day after day, in the temple courts

25

geographic area for the prayerwalking and Gospel distribution. Any church will be able

to work as large or as small of an area as it feels it can handle.‖

Churches can also add a brochure to the bags its members distribute. The brochure

could include an invitation to a special seminar or ministry that would appeal to non-

attenders.

Those receiving the bags will be able to respond immediately by filling out a card or by

visiting a special Web site. The KBC will be sending each respondent a book and will

notify the church assigned to that area for follow-up.

In preparation for the Gospel distribution and media campaign, churches are being

asked to prayerwalk their assigned area; train members to be witnesses; prepare their

facilities to make a strongly positive first impression for new guests and make plans to

follow-up with prospects during the five weeks following Easter.

For the national media campaign, Bauscher said that NAMB is producing high quality

TV and radio spots in English and Spanish. The ads will feature the stories of people

who found life unfulfilling until they found Christ.

The spots will also be available to churches and associations to use, he said.

In addition to the NAMB Web site for the unchurched person (www.findithere.com),

the KBC is also setting up a ―Find it Here‖ section of its own website

(www.kybaptist.org/findithere) that will be used to post downloadable resources to help

churches prepare for the campaign.

―Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead,‖ Bauscher told the Evangelism

Conference audience. ―We will use mail, e-mail, the Western Recorder and our Web site

to get the information out. We are excited about what God is going to do through this

and pray that every church in the KBC will participate.‖
