Long Beach Transit takes you practically anywhere you want to go in Long Beach any day of the week. Our friendly transit advisors are standing by to help you plan your trip. We’ll be happy to give you schedule and route information by calling (562) 591-2301. Bus stops are located nearly every two blocks for your convenience. Best of all, with a regular fare of only $1.25 and even less for seniors and passengers with disabilities, there’s no better way to get around town. Inside are complete maps and schedules for all Long Beach Transit routes, plus a lot of helpful information to make riding the bus as easy as possible. As you use these schedules, it is good to remember that heavy traffic, passenger loads, adverse weather or other factors may prevent buses from running on time. We recommend that you allow extra travel time.
Arrive at your stop early. Read the signs on the top of the bus above the windshield to make sure you board the right bus. The sign will give the final destination of the bus and the major streets where the bus travels. Be ready with exact fare because like the drivers, the fare boxes don’t make change.
Board the bus through the front door and pay your fare. If you need to transfer to another transit agency to complete your one-way trip, please buy your interagen-cy transfer when you pay your fare. Please check your pass/transfer before being seated to make sure it is cor-rect. After you pay your fare, hold onto the handrails as you find a seat, as the bus may begin to move before you sit down. If you are disabled or a senior and need extra time boarding the bus, be sure to let the driver know. Please remain seated and do not change seats while the bus is in motion.
How to Ride the Bus
As you prepare to exit the bus, signal the driver that you want off by pulling the cord, or pressing the yel-low strips along the side of the bus next to the window. Please give the driver enough notice so he may make a smooth stop. Please remain in your seat or hold the handrail until the bus comes to a complete stop. When getting off the bus, please exit through the rear door. Just push the yellow strip and the doors will open auto-matically. Please be sure to hold the doors open while you’re exiting. The doors will close automatically after you release your hand. Carefully step off the bus onto the sidewalk. If you loaded your bike, be sure to tell the driver you’re getting your bike, before you get off the bus.
You and our bike racks can help reduce traffic and pollution. It’s true, and putting your bike on the bus is so easy! Take your bike to school, to work, or the beach at no additional cost. All of our buses have three high-quality racks with easy to use instruc-tions. It’s as easy as 1-2-3. Just follow the directions on the bike rack. 1. Pull down the bike rack 2. Place your front tire where it says, “Place your front tire here.” 3. Pull the support arm over the top of the tire. Now, get on board! When exiting the bus, alert the driver that you’ll be unloading your bike. Lift your bike off the rack; if there’s no other bike on the bus, please fold up the rack. First Street Transit Gallery: The First Street Transit Gallery is a major transportation hub serving most of Long Beach Transit’s bus routes, Metro Blue Line Station, Metro buses, Torrance, and LADOT regional transportation services. The Transit Gallery features eco-friendly landscaping, eight attrac-tive shelters (bus stops) complete with custom color LED energy-efficient lighting. The Transit Gallery also features comfortable benches, easy-to-read transit infor-mation displays, and wide sidewalks. Long Beach Transit is Fully Accessible All Long Beach Transit buses and vessels are wheelchair accessible. Passengers in wheelchairs ride free aboard all Long Beach Transit buses. Passengers can use the wheelchair ramps at all boarding locations with the exception of those listed below. Each vehicle has two wheelchair positions. If they are both occupied, our operators will stop and let you know that the wheelchair positions are full. During the trip, wheelchairs must be secured with the restraint equipment provided. A seatbelt in addition to the chair restraint is available upon request. Any item that prevents safe securing of a wheelchair on the bus is not permitted. This includes all personal items. Wheelchairs must have all items stowed or placed in a way that will not obstruct the bus driver from properly securing the wheelchair.Segways that are used as a disability mobility device should be secured and passenger cannot remain standing on Segway while the bus is in motion and must pay appro-priate fare. For those who are unable to use Long Beach Transit’s fixed routes service for their transportation needs, Access Services, the ADA complementary paratransit ser-vice, may be what you’re looking for. In accordance with Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Long Beach Transit is committed to ensuring that no person shall be excluded from the equal distribution of its services and amenities on the basis of race, color, national origin, language proficien-cy, or economic status. Long Beach Transit Dial-A-Lift is a curb-to-curb, shared ride transit service exclusively for persons 18 years or older, who are unable to use the Long Beach Transit bus system. Residents of Long Beach, Lakewood, or Signal Hill, who are permanently mobility impaired and unable to use Long Beach Transit’s fixed route bus system, are eligible to apply for membership with Dial-A-Lift. The Dial-A-Lift fare is $2.00 each way. Applicants may apply for Dial-A-Lift membership by calling Long Beach Dial-A-Lift at (562) 591-8753 or text (562) 599-1843.Access Services paratransit services operate in most areas of Los Angeles County. It is a shared ride service that is curb-to-curb and utilizes a fleet of small buses, mini-vans and taxis. Fares are distance-based and range from $2.25 to $3.00 for each one-way trip. Personal Care Atten-dants may ride with the qualified rider free. Applicants may apply to be an Access member by calling (800) 827-0829, TDD (800) 827-1359, or email at [email protected]. LACTOA Disabled TAP Card program makes it easy for passengers with disabilities to qualify for reduced fares with most Los Angeles County transit operators (except Dial-A-Ride services). Bus Riding Etiquette • Listen to all electronic devices with earphones.• Earphones must be used at a volume that cannot be
heard by the driver or other passengers.• Open food and drink are not allowed on the bus.• Foul and abusive language will not be tolerated.• Unruly behavior will not be tolerated. • Loud and disturbing noise is prohibited.• Tampering with buses or bus stops is not allowed.• All buses and bus stops are non-smoking areas.• Seating is for bus passengers only. Bags, purses,
backpacks, etc. must be kept on laps, not seats.
Tips for a Smooth Ride
• Watch small children at all times and never allow them to stand on the seat.
• Service animals shall be allowed on the bus. • Pets are only allowed on the bus if they are in an
enclosed animal carrier.• Surfboards less than 6 feet may be taken on the
bus and shall be kept out of aisles and exits.• Transporting of recycling materials that are over-
sized, foul smelling, or contains liquids are not permitted on the bus.
• Hazardous materials may not be brought on board, for example, car batteries or gasoline.
• Carts & other items that are not offensive to other passengers or won’t restrict movement on the bus will be permitted when it is safe. These items must be placed in a way that does not interfere with the operation of the vehicle. Items cannot obstruct aisles or exits. You may be asked to fold your cart.
• Fold-up style bicycles, scooters, & strollers are al-lowed when folded & kept out of aisles & exits.
• Shirts and shoes are required.
Priority Seating• Front seats are designated as priority seating for
senior citizens or persons with disabilities.
• Arrive at the bus stop early.• Smoking is not allowed within 20 feet of a bus stop.• Stand back from the curb until the bus makes a
complete stop.• Never run after a bus that is leaving a stop. If the
bus has begun its departure, the driver cannot stop in the traffic lane to board passengers.
• When wheelchair ramp is lowered, please wait for driver instructions before boarding.
• Have exact change or your bus pass ready (drivers do not make change).
• Have your ID ready if you are traveling with a reduced fare pass.
• Have strollers folded up and ready to carry on board. Strollers must be kept out of aisles and exits. Children are not allowed in strollers while on the bus.
• Throw away disposable drinks and trash before boarding the bus. Consumable liquids brought on the bus are to remain in threaded, sealed contain-ers.
• Stay behind the yellow line on the floor behind the driver at all times.
• Please don’t distract the bus driver or other pas-sengers with unnecessary conversation, yelling, or causing a commotion on the bus.
• Board the bus in an orderly manner, using handrails for safety.
• Take a seat as quickly as possible after boarding the bus.
• Never stand or sit in any of the bus stairwells.
Security First• All LBT buses have live and recording security
cameras designed to improve security on our buses and at our bus stops.
• Our team of dedicated Long Beach Police Tran-sit Enforcement Officers is committed to your safety and security.
• Please notify your bus driver or contact LBT Customer Service at (562) 591-2301 if you have any concerns, comments, or suggestions.
Exit the Bus Safely• Signal that you want off the bus by pulling the cord,
or pressing the yellow strips along the side of the bus next to the window.
• Please use the back door to exit whenever possible.• If you boarded with a bike, be sure to tell the driver
you’re getting your bike before you get off the bus. • Always hold the rear door open when leaving,
especially for small children. Once released, the doors close automatically.
• After you get off the bus, stand back and wait for the bus to leave before crossing the street.

• An Interagency Transfer is issued for 50¢ upon receipt of adequate cash fare or a valid pass.
• Interagency Transfers issued by Long Beach Transit are not valid for use as a transfer to another Long Beach Transit bus.
• Only one Interagency Transfer is issued per each paid fare to complete a one-way trip.
• Interagency Transfers are not sold to passengers who ride free, for example, wheelchair and blind customers, and are not sold to Passport passengers riding for free.
• The Interagency Transfer is valid on Metro, OCTA, LADOT, Norwalk Transit, Torrance Transit, Carson Tran-sit, Gardena Bus Lines, Montebello Bus Lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Foothill Transit, The Bellflower Bus, Paramount Shuttle and the Light Rail Lines.
• Interagency Transfers issued by the above transit carri-ers are accepted on Long Beach Transit buses as long as the time, date and direction of travel (one-way) are valid.
• Interagency Transfers are valid only where both agen-cies connect.
• Metro rail tickets are valid with a Metro to Muni transfer ticket.
• LBT and OCTA honor each other’s Day Pass in lieu of an Interagency Transfer from the closest connecting intersection for one ride only. This is because OCTA does not issue transfers.

Route 151 – 4th Street Minor schedule changes seven days per week. See page 76.Line 170 (Routes 172, 173, and 174) – PCH / Palo Verde / Studebaker Route 173 will offer later weekend service matching the week-day evening service from the Norwalk Green Line Station. Minor schedule changes weekdays. See page 82.Route 171 – PCH / CSULB / Marketplace Morning and afternoon peak period travel from CSULB will increase to every 15 minutes. See page 79. Route 176 – PCH “ZAP” Route 176 is a new route operating from Technology Park/ Villages at Cabrillo to Lakewood Mall via PCH, Lakewood Blvd, the LB Airport, and connecting the two LBCC campuses. Route 176 will operate every 30 minutes as a limited stop “ZAP” on weekdays between 6:46 a.m. and 7:13 p.m. See page 87.Line 190 (Routes 191 and 192) – Santa Fe / Del Amo / South Service will be increased to every 20 minutes later into the evening on weekends. Ruta 176 – PCH “ZAP” Ruta 176 es una nueva ruta que operará de Technology Place en Cabrillo al Mall de Lakewood usando PCH, Lake-wood Blvd, Aeropuerto de LB, y conectará los dos campus de LBCC. La ruta 176 operará cada 30 minutos con paradas limitadas de “ZAP” en días laborales entre 6:46 am y 7:13 pm. Vea la página 87.
