P2A is a non-profit Network that was officially formed in June 2012 during the
First Assembly of Representatives hosted by Rangsit University in Thailand and
attended by Norton University of Cambodia, Duy Tan University of Vietnam, The
National University of Laos, and Myanmar Computer Institute of Myanmar. During
this time, the concepts of P2A were established, which were based on the vision of
the ASEAN Charter: “One Vision, One Identity” and creating “one caring and
sharing community”. Passage to ASEAN is driven by the need for regional
solidarity and a shared responsibility towards people and society as a whole. P2A
was initiated with the principle that higher education should be a leader in the
development of society.
Today P2A grew in a short time to a network of 80 members and P2A now unites;
we attribute this to our core values, which are simplicity, flexibility, and most
importantly a direct focus on our students, who will shape our world of tomorrow.
P2A “belongs” to its Members; each Member institution plays a vital its
development, decision-making and programs.

Introducing P2A
Passage to ASEAN (P2A) is a non-academic program focusing on ASEAN preparation
for all forms of Higher Education. P2A’s Member Institutions include a large Network
of approximately 80 ASEAN universities, colleges and institutes that share a common
belief in preparing our next Generation for the ASEAN One Community. P2A’s main
focus is to promote Knowledge, Understanding and Respect amongst people, and
countries. P2A believes that if we can build mutual understanding and acceptance of
the differences between our peoples and nationalities, all nations and people will
benefit.
1. P2A Provides a Unique and Short Term Framework for Student Mobility
P2A provides the most practical and affordable mobility model for students to travel in
the region. The network encourages students to travel by bus, plane and boat, and
overall participate in local activities to get a strong understanding of what it means to
be a local person.
2. P2A Provides Online Supplemental Programs to Students and Teachers
P2A has focused on establishing several online and virtual platforms, to build a
community of students who can interact online, and who can build knowledge in a fun
way. Programs include Second Life, Social Media, Open Source Content & Assessments
and a Tailor-made Application called the P2A Game (for Smartphones, Tablets and PC).
3. P2A Provides Certification to Students
The students who complete all programs of P2A will be eligible for the P2A ASEAN
Certificate, which is co-signed by the Thai-ASEAN Association, and can be utilized, in
their future careers
| Page 3
The ASEAN Journey is an ASEAN mobility program for students to gain first-hand experience in other ASEAN countries with the objective to better understand the differences and similarities within the ASEAN community. P2A as a Solution to the Many Challenges of ASEAN: 1. Combination of Experience and Knowledge based learning: This combination of
ASEAN now-how prepares students for the “real world” and future globalization
2. Affordable; P2A is the most affordable model allowing large numbers of students to
travel due to Network mandated prices 3. Easy to organize and participate; All partners are encouraged to open their study
tours to all other partners, and share the work and responsibility that holds many mobility programs back
How is P2A Different from Other Study Tours? Our Members agree with the P2A Framework and Article of Association, resulting in easier and more flexible mobility. The Members have also agreed to accommodate the students and give them basic meals for only 25 USD per day, per student. This makes P2A affordable to many more students than traditional exchange. The fact that our students can choose when they want to travel and where they want to go is also a fact that makes P2A different. P2A is a flexible program that works with three basic principles: With Knowledge comes Understanding, and with Understanding comes Respect for different people, cultures, and countries.
The ASEAN Journey takes advantage of the P2A Network where all Members agree to the same model for student mobility. By standardizing the program, activities, accommodation, meals and transportation, and agreeing on one ASEAN-wide fee, the ASEAN Journey is the most practical and affordable way for students to travel. P2A Members organize their own Journeys according to their own requirements. A Journey can start at any time and can take as long as you want. It may cover the whole ASEAN region or only selected countries but to qualify for certification students must travel at least 9 days and spend at least 3 days in 3 countries. P2A encourages Public Journeys as a great opportunity for different nationalities to travel together and to increase the chances of students to participate. Learn more about P2A Journey
